Watched that old clip of Nadull from 2003 and thought it would be interesting to look at the physiques of the top players when they were young vs. today. It's hard to find pics from when players were young, so they might not be in the same position or from the same angle or whatever. I still think we can notice stark differences in all the Nadull generation of defensive players.
Here's Mugray:
Interesting that "thick legs" in fact had skinny twig legs when he was young.

Young Mugray was a bit adorable...kind of sad that he looks like a monster now. Guess we can thank Lendl for that, a "fitness" buff from the USSR.
Here's Fakervic:
Fakervic was always flexible, but now he look more like Schwarzenegger that his younger self.
Nadull:
The young Nadull also had an interesting game. In a better world he would have been a great clay player, full of guile with dropshots and point construction. Now of course he's an all court moonballer who wins a career grand slam but that's not for this thread
Even in 2004, he was already pretty fit. But nothing like now, where he looks like he ate the younger Nadull. Also I apologize for the homo-eroticism of this thread, had to be done.
Feel free to post your own pics. The fitness level required in the sport nowadays is unprecedented, seeing the rapid and severe physical transformations it takes to be a defensive oriented player in the modern game is something we should be looking for to understand whats happening in our sport.
