Of course I would. Two of my favorite players
Your draw won't come true as it is impossible. I wouldn't mind JMDP being drawn vs Ferrer though because: a) the grass has been regrown and should play very fast, which means Ferrer could very well be upset early b)even if he isn't, since the surface won't play like the glorified clay courts of second week Wimbledon, JMDP can definitely beat Ferrer. He does move like an elephant on ice on grass, but that will be a lesser issue if the surface is fast enough for him to hit through. And it's not like he has a better chance against Murray, Federer or Djokovic anyway.
But of course I do prefer Ferrer facing Tsonga or Berdych, as those two are far more likely to be a threat for medals and could use a 'free pass' for the semis.

That said, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the draw is impossible. Seeds #5 and #6, and #7 and #8 can never be in the same side of the draw ie Tsonga and Berdych will be on opposite sides, as will Del Potro and Tipsarevic.
|
Nope, they can be drawn 5, 6, 7, 8 are a group they can be drawn in any order there is no specific where 5 and 6 should be in separate halves, they can be in the same half.
The only ruling is that
1 and 2 in opposite sides with 3 and 4 placed on each half.
1-4 will face 13-16 and 5-8 will face 9-12. In slams 1-8 will face 25-32 and 9-16 will face 17-24.

Are you sure? I can't remember ever seeing 5 and 6 in the same half. Would have thought it'd happen occasionally if the draw was random. But perhaps it is my memory. Can anyone link to the last tournament that featured a potential 5 against 6 in the SF? Doesn't matter if it came off.

Seppi will rise again.
After dissapointing Wimbledon (lost to Istomin in 5), he wants to prove something here.

I had that down as the Bronze match, maybe that will be it on the clay in 2016
Tomic has a chance of Gold is he beats Seppi though.

Tomic won't get gold, that's for sure. He'll get bronze after beating a very determined Sergiy Stakhovsky. Young and Harrison both show their most mediocre Tennis on grass, thus making them a shoe-in for the finals. On clay in 2016 it'll be a final betwix a Ramirez Hidalgo far past his prime over Nicolas Mahut a.k.a. the Clay GOAT.

Re: The Olympics Draw Thread
If a country has 2 players participating, they will be drawn into opposite halves of the draw. If a country has 3 or 4 players participating, they will all be drawn into separate quarters of the draw.

Re: The Olympics Draw Thread
I'm not excited about this draw at all, as in 2-setters on grass plus the Olympic context, anybody can beat anybody, as Tsonga said himself today : he said he can beat anybody in this format but be beaten by anybody as well.
For everybody better avoid Raonic and Isner though because the third set will be without any tie-break
PS : besides, as for the importance of this tournament in rankings, it's just quite an ATP500 tournament, most of the top-players will only count their points when they're superior to around 90-100 points, which means from the quarterfinals.

Dencod is right : there's no rule to say that number 5 and 6 shouldn't be in the same half.

Re: The Olympics Draw Thread
Worst draw for Fed or Nole
Karlovic/Raonic/Isner/Berdych or Tsonga (both tougher for Fed than Nole) but Berdych tougher for Fed and tsonga for Nole/Murray
Easiest draw
Kavcic/Klizan/Verdasco or Monaco/Typsarevic, DelPo for Nole/Ferrer
