How does that look arrogant? Tasteless? Maybe. Arrogant, I don't see it.

It's nice to give Stan this honor after having done it twice already. They are a team you know...

Good that it's not a cyclist! That sport in general is so full of doping that I think it's not a good top put a cyclist as 'leader' of the olympic team.

Unbelievable sacrifice from Federer. (Federer probably also did it knowing Nadal wouldn't be carrying his country's flag) Beats Nadal sacrificing himself when not his best so his teammates could get a chance.

Get a grip! I would hardly call it an "unbelievable sacrifice". If he had never been a flag bearer before it would have been a nice gesture but as he's done it twice already, he shouldn't even have been asked this time.

It was good of him to let us all know about his "unbelievable sacrifice" though

Hater! Roger's Switzerland's greatest summer athlete by a mile and then some. Also lol you fail at sarcasm yet again.

The fact is, success in DC is largely determined by what country you come from or play for in the first place, which most players haven't had any control over.

Carrying the country's flag multiple times is that many times the honor compared to carrying it once. No one would let a chance like that slip away except Federer.

clap-clap-clap

And congratulations to Stan!

Rubbish. If he is the only one to carry the flag in three successive games, it makes it look like the country doesn't have any other athletes worth mentioning. Doing it twice was bad enough but to do it a third time would have looked ridiculous.

Federer is probably one of the greatest athletes in all sports put together. It would be a very great tribute and a proud moment for Switzerland to have him carry it thrice and I am sure the other athletes in Switzerland wouldn't have minded that at all.

That's good of you to speak for the Swiss team.

Nobody is doubting his credentials but it would have been fairly sad if a country couldn't find one other worthy athlete in 12 years to carry their flag. He's had that honour twice which is more than enough. Time to give someone else a chance especially as "one of the greatest athletes in all sports" has yet to win an individual Olympic medal. For all his incredible achievements (and I agree, he is a supreme athlete), he is far from an "Olympic legend".
