Tennis is an individual sport. And most Swiss are quite ok with reading [SUI] next to the tennis GOAT.

Re: Wawrinka to be Switzerland's flagbearer
So let's get this straight. If Fed is the flag bearer he's arrogant and should give someone else the opportunity, if he's not the flag bearer he's disrespecting his country and is only Swiss when it suits him. Great logic we've got going on here.

Re: Wawrinka to be Switzerland's flagbearer
Durrrrr changed his flag. Patriotic impulse.
There should be a rule for players spitting on Davis Cup to prevent them from taking part in Olympics.

Although I´m interested in sports the only other name of a sportsman or woman from Switzerland who at least was in an olympic final is Dominik Meichtry (swimming), but I don´t know if he qualified
It would really be a different thing if it would be winter Olympics
I think it is nice gesture from Federer to give the honour to Wawrinka and indeed Federer could not have won Gold in doubles all by himself

Good for Stan and a great gesture from Roger!
The people who say he's disrespecting his country--seriously??

Very kind from Roger. And I believe it makes sense. 3 straight times would be one too many.

The worst part of all this is that Federer is going with the attitude that he fully and solely deserves this honor BUT he will "give someone else a chance".
I have never seen anything more arrogant, other than from the man himself of course.
Whatever Federer does will be arrogant, because that's just him.

Whatever you say on the subject sounds pretty dumb to me. If you want to call Fed arrogant you don't need to go to such lengths, so as to defend your hatred for the guy.

Re: Wawrinka to be Switzerland's flagbearer
That's so calculative of Fed. He'd expect Stan to be tired after his flag bearing and somehow hoped he'll cost them to lose early in their doubles match, so that Fed can concentrate in singles.
Anyway, Stan

Re: Wawrinka to be Switzerland's flagbearer
I have to say I am not Roger's biggest fan. Hell, I am not fan at all, and I do find him unbearably arrogant, but some of you make him sound like the worst person on earth.
