I never said the word headcase. But perhaps it is somebody whose mentality is not always up to par? In which case you answered your own question.

I personally think Dimitrov is far and away the most overrated player in tennis today. I would have to take some time and think about who the second most overrated is. But Dimitrov is another topic altogether.

What I want to know from you is why you think Juan Monaco winning a tournament is a sad day for tennis? If he was as much of a hack as you appear to believe than why does he continue to win matches? Just what is it about Monaco that makes you think he isn't worthy of a top ten ranking (or even a single tournament win).

It's been a great week for both players. Let's just show some respect here.

My questions are asked in complete seriousness. I've seen Monaco play several times, and he never struck me as being a bad player. I'm curious as to what Looner's (and others) opinion is based on.

First thing you need to realize about MTF is that it is filled to the brim with Nadal haters.

As such, any player that normally loses and rather easily to Nadal, like Monaco or Ferrer or Almagro or whoever, is reviled and despised on this board.

Likewise, anyone that can beat Nadal, like Rosol or Soderling, are treated as gods here.

Pretty much all there is to it.

I honestly don't think Monaco bends over for anyone, he just isn't up to the standard of the top guys. Whether vs. Federer at the USO or Nadal at RG, he just isn't good enough to beat them.

He did give a good fight to Djokovic in Miami, though.

ATP has seen so many "worst ever" Top-10 players over the last 2-3 years that Monaco seems to be a fitting addition to this list of impostors. Negative W/L record at Slams -- check. Negative W/L record off clay -- check. Welcome to the Top-10!

Ferrer in the top 5 and Monaco in the top 10

But this is the strongest era of all-time, right, the golden age of tennis?

But the poster I quoted used it or are you blind?

This kidbourbon guy and the other Typhoon20 look like genuine dupes. I swear the idiocy that comes from them is the same BS some of the idiots who have hidden in their holes used to spout.

Hence, he should not to be in the top echelon of tennis because he's just not up to the task of challenging the top guys. He may deserve his place in the rankings through results against lesser opponents but he's never come close to even causing problems for the other top 10.

That's bull.

If not him than who? Raonic? Haas? Other supposedly "talented" mugs who may challenge the top guys but whom Monaco routinely defeats?

Why not just eliminate every player outside the top 8 and just have a travelling 8-man tennis tour?

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned...

Compared to Murray, Haas is nothing. He doesn't even have 1 slam final. How many titles does he have? How many masters titles does he have?

There's also a difference between a posting mistake and outright insulting him.

I thought so. Take Murray out of your sig, please, and don't pretend to be a fan of him again.

Well, that's the thing. He beats guys below him but is unable to challenge the top tier. It's just sad. But then again you sure enjoyed that spectacle Monaco put on against RN at RG, right?

Okay, Monaco can't challenge the top 4 for shit. So what? Doesn't mean that he's undeserving of his place on the tour.
