Not much, the holidays are over. Last year was the rainiest here in 50 years and the winter the most snowy. And there was much less sunshine than on average.
And the politicians are not really better than the Greek ones.

My birthday is near mid August. That's when everyone is away on vacation. Never really got to celebrate it properly as a kid. Can't remember that ever bothering me.
Pffft....reminds me of my August-born sister. You summer babies are so blasé about the luxury of being born mid-summer.
....and it's not about not getting seperate gifts as such, but about mid-summer born blasé kids getting more and being stuck-up about it. kids compare, you know.

What luxury? Never got a chance to have a birthday party like all my classmates did during the school year. One year when I was in elementary school my mother had my birthday party in ...February during the carneval season. The party was a huge success but it was more of a costume party than a bday party; blowing the candles just didn't feel right.

In any case I had no siblings so no comparison. I got all the gifts and attention.

Haha... But no, the ending is quite common. For example: Today is Wednesday. Shouldn't you be at work? This ending would be used for the first sentence because both persons know that today is Wednesday. I hadn't thought about it before but we often say such obvious things as a way to introduce a new subject or provide background information. But it can also be used to answer questions where you think the other person should already know the answer to the question. At least I think so. I'm no expert on this subject yet. Ask me in 2-3 years
