I still need daily treatment from a nurse (still an open wound until the inner wound in my belly is 100% healed) but they will just come in the evening instead of in the afternoon.
So, last Friday, a nurse that I hadn't seen before came into my house and asked me what had happened for me to need daily medical help.
"Burst appendix", I commented after which her eyes went sort of

.
I said that my oldest sister had an infected appendix that was about to burst open quite some time ago. They rushed her into the hospital to be operated on right away because, as they said: "once the appendix bursts open, your life is at stake, you're in mortal danger."
I said to the nurse: "well, I walked around with a ruptured appendix 1,5 days so that's exaggerated, right?"
The nurse: "No, it's not exaggerated. It's the truth. Once your appendix bursts, your life is in danger" and she went on to talk about a female patient of hers whose appendix ruptured a few years ago. Quite a few of her organs got infected so they had to remove part of her intestines, they had to take away her womb and her stomach got infected too. They fought hard for her life but she died a few months afterwards.
Before that, a male patient of hers died as the result of a ruptured appendix as well.
"So", she concluded "you're very, very lucky"
My eyes went big after that story about that woman.
"Don't worry", she said "if there's no infection by now, it won't happen. You're in the clear. Still, you're very lucky."
Me (to lighten the mood): "I must have good guardian angels then."
She: "you can say that again."
Still, it's almost a thing of the past now.
