Default Current points question

For all you stat heads out there, I have a question regarding Isner's current point total:

http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/P...sner.aspx?t=rb

Why is the Monte Carlo 2012 - 0 points counted? I thought this is a 9th ATP 1000 tournament, and it's optional, so you can replace it with any other higher points from ATP 500 tournaments. Isner has 90 points from the ATP 500 event in Memphis, and they're not counted - so why aren't these used instead?

Thanks

Because top 30 players have to play 4 ATP 500 tournaments per a year and they can't withdraw from them otherwise they get penalty zero point. It can't be replaced until a year, it will expire on 2013. April 15.
Isner didn't have serious enough reason for the withdrawal.

MC counts 500s tournament for some reason.

Isner did it in last year too, he withdrew from Rotterdam, reason was 'personal reason' and played in following week. Similar happened with the ranking.

Thanks, that makes sense. I wish ATP would publish these reasons on the player's page, sometimes it's so confusing studying the actual points breakdown.
