The rules state that it is advised that the manager of a tournament try and not play the same tournament they are managing. In the case of weeks where there is only one tournament, this is not possible. This week, there are two ATP level tournaments, so abollo could have played in Kitzbuhel. I believe this advisement was added this season...it is not a hard line rule, but it makes things easier.

That said...I still do not know why those picks this weekend were not accpeted if they were sent on time.

I know that but but my revolt is that I've seen other situations where the choices were accepted and abollo didn't accept them because he acted in bad faith. The choices were all sent on time, when left the differences I was here and I was just saying that he had sent. A minute later I showed the choices and justafan confirmed.

I know that it's just a game and I don't win nothing with this but i like to play this game.

Default Re: Tennis Tipping Los Angeles - Monday OOP posted - Send picks by 7 pm CET

I have sent picks from Holmzy, Sonja1989, 156mphserve and CoolyBri to abollo.

Allez-Alejo: the picks were sent to the wrong person and FiBER's picks were also late.
Sending to the wrong person can cause trouble because if that person is not around to forward the picks on, the manager doesn't know if the person sent or not, he doesn't know how to add lucky losers. He has no choice but to assume that there are missing picks and puts in a lucky loser, then 7 hours later has to remove that lucky loser because the original player sent picks to the wrong person it just becomes a mess. So it's better not to accept them at all in my opinion.

The code of conduct is here: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=174089

And this situation is referred to in paragraph 2.4 in particular:

2.4 With the exception of Grand Slams, Masters Series, Davis Cup and WTF (and any ATP 250/500 where there's only one tournament per week or one tournament of higher value than the others) a manager will not play in any event he manages. For the exceptions he will ensure that somebody is available to receive his/his opponent’s picks.

abollo:

For future references, if you send someone over to post the oop for you, you must accept picks from the players sending to your assistant.

That's pretty much how everything works. Just sayin'

Regarding the "play or not play", IMO I dont see why managers can't play the same tournaments they manage. It is more of a moral rule, but then again, I dont think abollo is not to be trusted unless proven otherwise.

Sounds like a fair folk. I know it was put on the rulebook, but the solution I can think of, is next time this happens, just let everyone know on the manager's thread you are playing L.A. because that's your preference, and then the Board can have an option to say "that's ok" or "yeah, do it, but you could switch to the other tournament of the week and manage it", which are two reasonable answers (and the third would be a "no" which would not be that much reasonable, at least to me). You have to ask for permission only because it is in the new rules, otherwise, id agree you can go and do what you want.

Just two friendly advices

I was not his assistant, I was just posting OOP because abollo was busy that day.

I cannot be posting OOP AND forwarding picks to abollo in time for him to make differences before players yell at him. I am just doing a favour, once I post the OOP, my job is done. I have to make sure I'm available in my timezone to fulfil my other commitments managing other tournaments.

For a manager:

"Can someone post OOP?" and "Can someone take picks?" are two totally different functions with two totally different time commitments.

God, why are there some players who cannot accept they screwed up? It's clear on the OOP to whom you should send your picks. If you send to the wrong person it's your responsibility, no one should accept them. It's as stupid as sending at the wrong time, or with wrong names, or with results that don't make sense in tennis. Stop trying to blame managers, saying they're "acting in bad faith" and questioning their integrity.

I screwed up. But if someone posts the OOP, and I send to that person, is somehow implied linked to the tournament... cos he/she is doing something only the manager or his assistant can do. Then, if the manager doesn't post the OOP himself/herself, they are screwing up as well, don't you think?

As I said, I screwed up, but so did the manager in the first place if you wanna go deeper.
Regarding the second part, if there is a rule, then it's breaking one. I dont mind, I don't think manager is acting in bad faith but everyone's entitled to their opinion. I dont like trolling managers for the sake of it, so I agree they should stop doing it, cos nothing good will come. He is playing, take it. I dont mind being left out, I m just giving my opinion. I dont think it was fair not to take my picks but it is his call. That's why I said for future references and I stand for it.
