I can "somewhat" wrap my brain around eating cooked/baked/fried insects: it's just protein, right? Why a chicken and not a grasshopper? One only seems weird because it's not part of culture and we're not used to it. On paper, I get it... doesn't mean I want to do it.
But the idea of eating anything while it's alive is very freaky! It's not uncommon to eat something raw (sushi for example) but it's not alive at the time.
Maybe this is silly too. All of those meats were alive at some point before they got to your plate. Someone had to kill them.

Re: The Lurkers Melting Pot - Sponsored by Olympic Gold Medal Winner Andy Murray!
It's just cruel to eat something when it's alive, no matter what the creature is. I'm actually quite offended by that video posted upthread - there's clearly no need to do something like that (i.e. eating a live spider) except to get a reaction from whoever's the target audience. It's juvenile, unnecessary, and cruel. It's no different from the fucked up Chinese people that eat the brain of a monkey when it's still alive, but somehow the latter is deplorable and the former not...doesn't make sense to me.
There are also humane ways of slaughtering animals practised in some places which minimise the suffering of the animal. Not an expert on this point though; I don't eat most meats anyway, and trying to stop eating seafood completely.
And raw fish? Yucks.

Mae!
Massive day for us. Gotta change that title to suit the occasion, then we'll go celebrate like it's the last day on Earth!

@ Shamster. I think you have used more emoticons in a couple of posts here than in your entire MTF life !
