He should have an excellent chance for that, he's only defending 28 points between now and AO.

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings [in Post #1]
After Paris we are certain (since Shanghai final actually) that the rankings will be : 1. Djokovic 2. Federer.
There's still a small uncertainty on the 3rd rank : if Nadal comes back and wins Paris at once (and Murray is not in the final), he would be number 3 ahead of Murray before the WTF !
More seriously, if Tsonga wins Stockholm final tomorrow, and if Nadal doesn't play Paris (99%) and Federer doesn't play Paris (he said yesterday that he's not sure to play there : will decide after Basel, I think he'll not come to Paris if he goes far in Basel), Tsonga will take the number 4 seed in Paris from Berdych.

Not that there was any doubt that he will qualify...but if Berdych wins tomorrow he will officially qualify.

If Belluci wins Moscow he will surpass Klizan by 4 points, so Belluci 30th and Klizan 31st.

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings [in Post #1]
I am a bit surprised that Chardy has been replaced by a qualifier, Benjamin Becker.. Shoudn't it have been Hanescu, LL ?
Whereas Ebden who was due to play a qualifier gets the LL.. Where's the logic ?

Nope, it has always been like that. If the withdrawal happens before they placed the qualifier in the draw, the lucky loser and qualifier are drawn together.

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings [in Post #1]
Stepanek will not a get a zeropointer anyway as he qualified in Basel.
I would guess Istomin will also get a zeropointer as I don't know the reason for his withdrawal from Basel but when he announced it, he was still in in Moscow and didn't look injured. And he's still in in Paris.
Does anybody know the reason why he's pulled out from Basel ?

Why Del Potro only earn 70 points from Vienna on his ranking?

Because he lost 180 pts. you can only your best 6 results from ATP 500, ATP 250, DAVIS CUP, olympics. Del Potro has 340-olympics, 300 rotterdam, o-tokyo,and 3 /250 Vienna/Estroil/Marseille

Slasher, you never explained what the grey backround means. Players like Nole and Rafa are not on ATP 500 main draws this week either.

I don´t understand that ZEROPOINTER for Del Potro (Tokyo it is). He has Olympics, Rotterdam, Dubai and Valencia (last year) with playing Basel now.

Top 30 players must play 4 ATP 500 a year. Del potro only played 3 , Olympics doesn't count

Will Paris points (and Masters points) come off next week (along with Basle/Valencia)?

yes, the ATP staff answered a mail by Slasher1985 about this point a few weeks ago (see some pages before in this thread).
After Paris, the Race and the rankings should be equivalent, except for the challengers which were played after Basel last year which will still be in the rankings but not in the Race.
