Default Where will Novak Djokovic rank on the ATG (Open Era) list after his retirement?

I was checking out his stats on wiki today and he's slowly catching up with the greats of the past (Lendl, McEnroe, Agassi, Borg). Right now he is #9 and already greater than Mats Wilander & Boris Becker and close to surpassing John McEnroe.

If he keeps playing on the same high level as he is now until 2018 he will be #4 easily (above Borg) and I believe that he could surpass Sampras too.

Where will Nole rank after he retires?

THE 3 MOST IMPORTANT criteria below:
1. Grand Slam Titles
2. ATP Rankings (since 1973) No. 1 #
3. ATP World Tour Masters 1000 - Titles #
4. Total number of titles
5. WTF

Top 10 ATG Open Era List:
1 Federer (17)
2 Nadal (14)
3 Sampras (14)
4 Borg (11)
5 Lendl (8)
6 Agassi (8)
7 Connors (8)
8 McEnroe (7)
9 Djokovic (7)
10 Wilander (7)

3 voted over Rafa? Like hes going double his slam count in the next 5 years?

I say between Borg and Sampras.

Are you on drugs or something ?
Djokovic is MAXING 10 slams and i mean UPPER-most max ! I'll cut my left net in half if Faker wins 11 frikin SLAMS even Fed has a bigger chance to win one more than nole winning 4 more

Nadal is winning 4 more though i'm 100% sure

Perfect scenario
Federer 18
Nadal 18
Djokovic 10
Murray 3 (one more ...)

about the criteria do you know when are masters invented ?
3.WTF
4. no fourth criteria

Nobody votes over Rafa.

On topic, he should climb a few spots.

According to those criteria Djokovic can be above Borg with let's say 9 slams and 10 more finals (Borg 11-5) because he will probably in the end have a lot of more weeks at no.1 and masters titles and about the same number of tournaments.

As for the Masters and former 9 top tournaments, Borg won 15.

" ... The Grand Prix Super Series of men's tennis tournaments, formed part of the Grand Prix and World Championship Tennis tours between 1970 and 1989, and were held annually throughout the year in Europe, North America, Africa and Asia. After the Majors and Season ending Championships these tournaments were the most prestigious in terms of prize money, [1] ranking points and field strength they had a six name changes from 1970 through to 1977 [2] and settled on a consistent naming format called Super Series" from 1978 until 1989.[3]

When the ATP became the sole governing body of men's tennis in 1990 all of the surviving tournaments of the Grand Prix were absorbed into the new ATP Tour. The nine top events existing at that time first become known as the ATP Championship Series Single Week and are currently branded as ATP World Tour Masters 1000. ..."

I think he will win 3 more slams at most, really don't see him getting past 10. This would obviously put him somewhere around Borg, depending on his other accomplishments as well.

Below Rafa and above Federer most likely.

Had he taken his chances early on and won those slams he lost in finals - he could have been higher than Rafa

I wouldn't be so sure about the ranking presented by OP.

- Nadal seems to end his career above Sampras, but I wouldn't be so sure if he is already above him...

- I would definitely put both Lendl and Connors above Agassi, despite he is my fav. I think achievements and consistency of both of them are hugely underrated.
The discussion about the positioning of Lendl and Connors may be complicated and I can see myself accepting arguments from both sides. But I would still give the slight edge to Lendl, especially considering Connors' weeks at no.1 are inflated and Lendl imo had to face tougher opposition.

To the topic - Novak has a good shot to surpass Johnny Mac relatively soon, Andre isn't far away as well, Connors and Lendl...well, imo he has a lot to do...

I think from this point on, Nadal wins 4 more, Djoker wins 4 more and that will put Djoker 11 total, equaling Borg. If Djoker wins FO once then he completes career slam, which would put him above Borg. Then we have 3 of the 4 greatest players ever played in history, in this era. I highly doubt something like this will ever happen again in future generations.

not that easy when all is said and done

Lendl was insanely consistent at slams, has a huge # of titles, good H2H records, lots of weeks at #1, etc.
