Default Re: Captain Clément in Charge - Davis Cup 2013

An article in a french newspaper http://www.republicain-lorrain.fr/sp...esponsabilites

• Confiant avant cet US Open ?

• Vous resterez longtemps à New York ?

End of mission in New York, it remains only one double team.

An article in l'équipe about Amélie and Arno. To translate the part about Arno I'll try later

Here a little summary

In the introduction Amelie says they discuss with Arno about their new job and that they did a wine degustation between captains

Arno explains that he follows the mathes in another way. To confirm things he already know or to see detaisl about the way they play at the start of match or in importants moments. He takes notes about everything on their games. He discuss a lot with trainers about the game, the technic or the words they use to talk with their players. He has his notebook and likes to read what he writes to be impregnated.

He says he knows the players but the newness is the discussion with the trainers, talk with them to not change their habits. Then he will discuss more deep with trainers to have their point on view on their player. Arno says the best players are his priority but if he can he'll follow the ones who are just behing like Mahut because he's interested by them. He says the team is open and that he likes to see new players too.

Arno has some ideas about the team function but nothing is fixed. It depends about the ties, the surface, the doubles. He need time to think about that before talking to the players.

About the staff he needed to think about each spot even the more evidents. He spoke a lot with the players in Wimbledon and the fact they trust a lot in Roux was important especially cos he trust in him too. He's happy he has accepted to continue with him. About the rest of the staff he has some ideas but it will be annouced later.

About sport He says he needs to sweat so he tries to do one hour of sport everyday.

Thanks for the article . It's very interesting, I like the way he acts at the moment (to be present to see all the french players even the less well ranked, to take notes & talk to the different trainers) and what he says about the composition of the team (according to the surface, form, results and the fact it's open). His relationship with Amélie is nice too .

I would have know a bit more about team function because here he didn't answer to the question.

What about the team rules ? The way he wants to run the group. He's maybe too much kind with them Players have choosen captain and even trainer while few years ago Arno was agaisnt this idea.

So the opponent is Israel and the tie is played in France. I've read on twitter that was Noah's first tie too and he won the cup. High expectations for Arnaud
And since it's in France, who's going?

We've decided that as long as it was in Europe we would be there, so I don't really care where in France it is. A place where I haven't been before would be nice, but if it's Marseille that's always good too.

Thanks for the articles.

first round against israel has to be lucky for the first time captain, no matter how hard he tries to play it down in the interview, just like what he would do as a player, naturally

i hope all of you going are going to enjoy watching the tie, and the captain. if you're going only as an arnaud fan, it may be a little dull though, as he's no longer in action - as i had found a few weeks ago.

I like a lot of the Frenchies. I'm not as big a fan as I am of Arnaud, but some of them are really high on my list, like Gilles, Julien, Mika and Nico. Usually I watch almost all Frenchies at tournaments. I find Davis Cup too expensive to only be interested in the captain sitting on the bench. It will be strange though to see Arnaud there and not Guy.
