It's actually you that is clueless.

Under The Criminal Justice Act, assault is defined as intentionally or recklessly causing another person physical harm. Whether the police choose to prosecute him is another matter but it doesn't alter the fact Nalbandian's reckless behaviour injured the linesman which makes what he did assault. It is obviously a lesser crime than "assault with intent" but it is still assault. You might want to reconsider posting about things you don't understand. It will save you making a fool of yourself.

Anyway, as I said in another thread you get the society and behaviour you accept/defend, so good luck all because after each terrible action is tolerated it gets worse!

As for Murray: I agree, he should have been taken off the court IMMEDIATELY. Not to protect him but to strip him of his prize money, slap him with a 12 month ban, and a police escort to the nearest station. I've seen Murray jogging before in Marylebone: I wonder if he would wish to have me 'protected' if I did what Nalbandian did?
One of the few sensible posts on this thread.

And did I say it was not punishable by law? Huh? Quote me where I said it? You've been going around making yourself sound important. I can't stand some stuck-up arseholes who have no other aim in life than to obey meaningless rules. He was punished sufficiently. Let's see the same "justice" being applied to footballers and then we can talk. So many hypocrites in this thread.

Here are your quotes where you claimed what Nalbandian did was not assault despite the fact the law clearly states it is.

I see you have resorted to personal insults. I can understand why you are a supporter of such behaviour seen at Queens.

The linesman should be inprisioned for an insault to acting.

When I was younger I once rode my bike to school, and some guy was fooling around with his friends on the side of the street, he was running while looking backwards and crashed right on to me. I fell over and had a pretty bad cut on my leg. He drove me to the hospital and later explained himself to my parents. I needed 7 stitches but neither me nor my parents even had the thought of filing a charge.

Yeah we were angry at the time, but things like that happen all the time. The law isn't written for minor accidental injuries, Nalby acted recklessly, resulted in an injury, it doesn't make him a criminal of any sort, just someone who needs anger management classes. Don't you think the police need to spend their time investigating REAL crimes like intentional assaults or robberies (which never seem to get solved these days)? Because for all we know, there is a sh!t load of real criminals out on the streets because the police just doesn't seem to care enough.

I don't know what part of the world do you live in, perhaps a place with so little crimes that you would think someone like Nalby deserves to be arrested. But really, there's a serious lack of a grip being had in your life.

Have you even READ any of my posts, missy? Because I do not support such behaviour but calling for the police to get involved is laughable. And that was not a personal insult. It was just an opinion. Please don't report me for assault .

This is the last time I'll bother with you but here goes nothing. I said he deserved the punishment he got and anything more would be plain DUMB. If you cannot understand that from my posts then you need reading lessons. As for the post where I said assaulted, I meant as in real life where kicking a box which then harms someone else is not assault. It is stupid but it's not assault. You're welcome to try your BS exercise again though

Duck and dive all you like but what he did is classed as assault. That doesn't mean the police will choose to pursue a prosecution but it doesn't alter the fact it was an assault. Go away and read The Criminal Justice Act before you embarrass yourself on here again.

Someone running into you is an accident. A tennis player smashing an advertising board in anger and injuring someone as a result is not. It would have been an accident if he had slipped into the board.

What on earth are you talking about? How did you manage to start talking about people starving in Africa? Maybe on that premise we should just abandon all tennis tournaments?

The fact of the matter is that, through his reckless actions, he caused injury to the official which could reasonably have been foreseen given that the board was right in front of his legs.

I don't personally believe that anything will come of it but i'm glad that the police are investigating this, it'd be wrong to set a precedent that implies that potentially criminal acts committed within the jurisdiction of the ATP are somehow exempt from the wider rule of law. We don't elect the ATP so why should they decide the punishment for something which is potentially criminal?

"It's interesting to note the players' response. Not much support from the rest of the association. Had this been, say, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Andy Murray or John Isner -- actually, why name names? any of a hundred other players -- there would be a much greater effort to spin this as a regrettable and uncharacteristic lapse that occurred -- all together, everyone -- in "the heat of battle." * Tim Henman whacks a ballgirl at Wimbledon, gets disqualified and rarely gets grief for it. Why? Because on balance, he's a good guy. In this case, it's a sour guy who got what he deserved. Here's hoping the ATP steps up and issues a ban."

you quote wertheim even after murray makes him look a complete asshole?

well played.

plenty of the yank press lining up to character assasinate nalbandian because he hasn't given them convenient soundbites over the years.

his alleged "feuds" with other players amount to absolutely fuck all.
