Default Question about wrist movement during serve

I know about wrist pronation, but is it normal to move your wrist in a downward fashion while hitting the ball during a serve? When i was practicing today i suddenly hit a ball while moving my wrist in a downward motion, and it dramatically increased speed and accuracy. It felt very natural and doing so did not strain any of my muscles.

In these videos it looks like Roddick is combining the two, because his wrist ends up pointing down and it has rotated with because of pronation.

What do you guys think? Am i on the right track with the downward wrist movement? Also, can it be fruitfully combined with pronation?

If it works and feels good/natural, don't question it, just practice it Don't try to change it just because they say "it is/is not normal technique."

Snapping your wrist downwards will lead to more power and spin, it's a good way to go so long as you're keeping control of it and it feels natural.

hi PanchoSanza, I think that as long as your wrist is loose and it feels natural in movement to you during the serve is all that matters. i would not try to force the downward snap - the whole serve motion should be effortless. i tried things in the past to create more power and even though it helped in the beginning, in a long run i found myself with some chronic pains...
this following article can help you understand the serve technique even better: the art of the serve.

have fun on the court!
