I played all until I become 20 and then 5 months ago I was in an accident and shattered my right wrist. It is now held together by screws and metal plates. I don't know if I will play again so if anybody has come back from a bad injury like this then please share your story with me. I need some hope!

That's awful, poor thing . Tennis wouldn't matter right now, what matters is that you recover and be healthy again

Sounds awful! I injured my right wrist yesterday, while playing amateur tourney. It does not look that bad, but I could not serve or hit the ball at all without pain for few games before I retired. Today I cant move my thumb without pain, but I think it will be alright. Your story is really serious but I really hope you will recover

I consider myself to be a very good player, big serve, high fitness levels and accurate groundstrokes. I think I could beat Andy Murray but i'd struggle against the big three.

I'm basicaly a Flavia Pennetta, she just does everything a little better than me.

Brought up on clay courts, I hit with a bit too much top spin on my forehand, partly because I like to create angles and partly because I don't like missing. I have a solid two handed backhand (I try to copy Murray there), can hit a very good defensive slice because when I started playing tennis all I knew was how to slice the ball. My serve is mediocre with ups and downs, depends on a day a lot. Can crack a few 170km/h first serves (speed estimated by my coach), but second serve is my biggest weakness, can't produce much top spin or kick.
My volleys are not bad, but not great. Can hit some incredible drop volleys or half volleys like a boss, but can also miss an easy volley like a clown. Smash troubles me for some reason, find it difficult to put the ball away.
I'm sort of a patient counterpuncher, but try to attack when given a chance. Depends from what opponent is giving to me.
I don't like fast indoor surfaces too much, stronger bitches can blow me off the court there. But most of the time opponents must earn their points and matches against me.

In my futures carrer I have saved a MP two times and it's the most wonderful feeling I have never lost a match having MP, but I choked away some set points and threw away many 4-2 or 5-3 leads or got broken when serving for it (Seppi sindrome).

Has anyone else managed to get their serve measured at all?

I got mine done a couple of years ago, quickest I got (in) was a 95mph serve. I reckon I'd be able to up that now, I'm three inches taller, a lot stronger. Hopefully I can do it sometime.

I was on the LTA Futures list when I was younger - used to have tennis camps down at Bisham Abbey, also beat Dan Evans in the final of a tournament in Telford in 3 sets - still remember it like it was yesterday
Play very aggressive tennis, was frustrating when I was younger as I didn't have the power I do now after growing and couldn't hit through all the hackers (pushers) I played against. One of the reason's I stopped playing as much was the amount of cheating that went on as we all had to call our own lines.
Strongest shot is actually my two handed backhand which I can always rely on, forehand is more powerful but more erratic. Got a pretty good serve when I get in my rhythm, personal favourite is the body serve straight at the opponent

Also coached tennis in England and just finished 6 months coaching in Melbourne which was so good!

Been playing for over a decade. Been injured around 6 years of that time with various injuries. Undergone shoulder surgery in late 2009 and am still on the road back. I can still pursue my interests in the gym though

I thorn ligaments of left jumping ankle. My foot was like Elephant Man's and I hardly moved even with sticks to the bathroom.

After 3 weeks I played tennis again. All that with almost double years on my back than you. Keep good spirit and you will play tennis again very soon. Just do not spin like Nadal too much. : )

And consider taking recovery with therapists as much as possible.

I am basically old fart. I play mix of McEnroe and Lendl. Since I played tennis in 70es and beginning of 80es. My first stick was wooden one, so nothing under 350gramms does not work in my left hand.

Currently, I like my speed, flat forehands. Anticipation is great. Solid one hand backhand diagonals. Backhand slice on all sides. Almost all balls placed on serve line. No metro-sexual stuff with shoots in serving fields.

My volleys are slow because I am older. I plan to fix my focus. Serve was solid and I do not practice that. Another thing on to do list.

I like when opponents playing high spins so I can play half volley on their balls. And that is funny. Basically, I hate spin and my shots goes few centimeters over the net.

I especially hate playing with someone who care more about result and not quality of played. Cheers.

I play tennis.

My mother put me in classes at 13. I was eventually recruited by a local high school, where I worked my way up from Doubles 1 to Singles 1 in 3 years. The transition was rough, but I found a new coach along the way, with whom my game improved tremendously. By my Junior year, I won tournaments (lost some too) and could beat decent players. My game and fitness were at a high.

Unfortunately, my interest waned and I quit tennis for more than a year, until my friend convinced me to try out for the college’s team. I practiced, and worked my way up to Singles 5-6. I hated the coach and tennis politics, though, so I bailed the following year.

I’ve done a lot of coaching in the past few years for various camps around San Diego. My own game, meanwhile, had declined due to a lack of practice and confidence. Recently, however, I hooked up with a great coach and friend who greatly lifted my play. I owe her a lot.

On my game:

I’ve always wanted to be a hit-through-you guy, but I simply lack the natural firepower. My forehand’s quite heavy, so I’m better at pushing guys around and forcing opportunities.

My backhand’s my staple. I can give you any type of shot with it. I have a flat, penetrating two-hander, and I have a wicked slice on that end as well. I win a lot of cheap points with backhand DTL’s because players just don’t anticipate it.

My first serve is average-to-poor… I vary it between an awesome slice and a lame flat. My second serve, however, is a mean kicker that I often use as a first. I’ve aced some good players with it, but it’s prone to big-hitting returners.

My net game is inconsistent. Sometimes it’s adequate, sometimes it’s subpar.

I’ve recently been told by a collegiate coach that I have good footwork, which came as a pleasant surprise to me.

I play tennis. I don't play in summer time cause it's too hot and I have smarter things to do at the evening. But from September until the May I play alot of tennis. Every 2 days.
I learned to play by my-self. I started to play with 21 (I am 29) but I really often started to play 2 year ago.
I am solid, probably better of 90% of the forum beacuse almost everbody don't play).
