No idea when this last happened in a regular tournament, but the last major it happened in was also on grass - Wimbledon 1997, where the semis were Sampras v Woodbridge and Pioline v Stich. Interestingly, 7 of the 8 quarterfinalists were one-handers too, with Kiefer being the odd man out.

It's funny how people nowadays equate 2h backhand = clay and 1h backhand = grass. Once upon a time, it was thought that 1h backhand was superior on clay. Many all-time great claycourters had 1h backhands. 2h backhand was a freak shot which worked only in producing flat shots on fast courts.
