Default Oeiras R1: Goffin def. P.Sousa 7-6(1) 4-6 6-4

18 breaks of serve.
I've seen the 2nd set stats. 57 points, 39 unforced errors, 8 or 9 winners.

Benneteau/Q in R2 for David

Default Re: Oeiras R1: Goffin def. P.Sousa 7-6(1) 4-6 6-4

Twas a mugfest,

1st set Goffin 0-2 to 5-2 to 5-6, Souza fails to serve out the set and loses it on a tb.

Souza fails to serve out the 2nd set but breaks straight back to take it

3rd set was just as painful to watch as the rest of this match

Just that 3rd set I've managed to catch is enough to say that this is one of the worst matches I've seen in a long time.

The quality of the match is somewhat understandable in such windy conditions.

This was the tipical match where you can say better player lost. David was just pushing, pushing, pushing. Everytime he tried somthing different, he was losing the point. Sousa was doing all the points, winning or losing. He is really Paire's poor man. So many talent going to the trash, just because he doesn't have a brain. He just knows he is much better than most of the players he plays, but doing so many stupid mistakes, that he can't keep his focus for more than 2 minutes straight. This match is really the perfct example of Pedro's carreer.

Match quality was bad, but the wind was blowing very very strong. Almost unplayable, really.

I can't remember the last ATP match that had 18 breaks of serve. Most WTA matches aren't even that bad.

They do no damage with their serve so why would break of serve be an indication of a bad match? Not saying it wasn't overall, but at least the 3rd set had good rallies.

About as muggy as anything ever gets. But in David's defense, conditions were absolutely terrible. Can't stress that enough.
