Well... 2010 wasn't a very good chance, don't you think?

Re: Is it a suprise that Isner hasn't passed 2nd round at Wimbledon?
He's only played Wimbledon 3 times
08, he was more one dimensional, and lost a slug fest with Gulbis in 4. Missed in 09, in 2010 had the epic with Mahut and was dead the next round, and in 2011 lost another slug fest with Almugro in the 2nd round in 4.
His returns and movement are the biggest issues.

Obviously yes even though low bouncing surfaces don't suit him.

give him a break. He played 5 matches in 1 in 2010. I consider that at least a SF

The lack of returning skills.

He'll be better this year.

Re: Is it a suprise that Isner hasn't passed 2nd round at Wimbledon?
No.
Fast, low bouncing surface gives him no time to set up his shots. He's basically Karlovic in such surfaces, relies on serve and little else. Can't be even minimally competitive from the baseline and his return is terrible.
Not to mention he played the longest match ever in the 2010 edition with Mahut. But we should never expect great results from him on grass imo. He needs slow/medium and high bouncing surfaces to set up his shots.

Re: Is it a suprise that Isner hasn't passed 2nd round at Wimbledon?
No. Isner has played on grass only a few times.
I think grass is his worst surface for him. Low bounce and slipy balls.

I'm not surprised on this one

Re: Is it a suprise that Isner hasn't passed 2nd round at Wimbledon?
In 2011, there was the hype of Isner-Mahut: The Sequel, which may not have been a physical match but was a mental issue in preparing for the event. If you keep Mahut out of it, I do think he'll do a bit better this year.

2010 is no excuse, He should be beating Mahut in straights.

Shocked this wasn't the first post. The guy can't break anyone consistently so he gets dragged into these marathon matches. He's Roddick in his prime except wayyyyyyy taller and that's not a good thing.

Re: Is it a suprise that Isner hasn't passed 2nd round at Wimbledon?
not really. Yes he has only played a few and we can take 2010 out of the equation. However he's not very good on the surface for the reasons that other posters have mentioned.
but he's not really a slam player. In 17 slam main draw appearances he's only made 1 QF and been to the 4th round just twice
