Re: Bernard on the clay 2012
He beat giraldo in rome in a tight 3rd set and Falla is a good clay courter who has a reputation of stepping it up in slams just like Bernie

Re: Bernard on the clay 2012
Yeah, Falla made the 4th round at RG last year so it could be a tough one if they play. But first we have to see which qualifier Bernard draws...

Re: Bernard on the clay 2012
I'd be happy if tomic got into the top 20 by the end of the year thoughts on where you expect and what you'd be happy with?

Re: Bernard on the clay 2012
Just based on what I've seen so far, in my opinion, I would be surprised to see him finish that high. But, there is still a lot of tennis to be played so things can change.
I think he really has got to start improving on his non-slam results. If you look at his performance since the AO, he has lost in the 1st or 2nd round in 8 of the 10 tournaments played. I know a lot of them have been on clay but still...
This week he's not defending any points so any wins will help the ranking. Then his performance at Wimbledon will determine a lot too I guess. It'll be important to maintain his footing in the rankings so that he could be in the race for a USO seed, as there's just 2nd round points to defend there.
I would just really like to see him start doing better week in and week out and the ranking will follow. It will be disappointing if his results continue to be many 1st/2nd round exits with a QF here or there...

Yeah him being in the top 20 by years end is slightly above what I expect but hopefully he can start doing well in minor tournaments soon to help him along....I think that these last few months he's been trying to get more of an aggressive game and his slowly finding his balance of how he wants to play. Instead of just being a great counterpuncher that can vary shots he's pushing to add that power and aggression to his style. I hope and I believe that once he finds a bit more of a stable grounding as to how to play aggressively his results will be alot more consistent. Just my opinion.

Re: Bernard on the clay 2012
If he makes it to the 2nd round hopefully they'll bump him up a few courts so we can catch a stream
