Default Tomic on a 3-week trial with Malisse

Interesting combination. I wonder whose fuse will blow first?

The fact is, success in DC is largely determined by what country you come from or play for in the first place, which most players haven't had any control over.

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned...

Good for the game. Happy to see Tomic is making decisions as he clearly wants to change and start his lustrous career.

Tomic probably has trouble pulling the "trigger" if you know what I mean. All young man go through that after puberty. Malisse is a bona fide bad boy with a ton of experience dealing with this issue. Everytime I see Tomic, I am reminded of David Duchovny of Californication. I think this move will help Bernie take that next step.

What. Tomic's biggest weakness is his laziness and unfocused mentality. That's X-man's speciality too, so how in the hell is Malisse supposed to help Tomic then?

Well, at least if any of the Tomics decide to headbutt Malisse, I'm sure he is capable of giving as good as he gets.

But boy, that sounds like a crazy combination.

Malisse never did come across as a super hard working player.

That is simply hilarious. Tomic hiring Xavier Malisse of all people...talk about playing to one's weaknesses!
Maybe there is a strange contrarian logic in it after all, though, let's see what happens
This may cause me to actually root for Tomic now.

I guess X-Man had his fill of coaching on WTA, then?

This. Any change right now in his career, is a plus for me. Ditch his daddy, would be a huge start to it. So hopefully this 3-week trail will be successfull

Well, he knows all about it first-hand, nothing beats experience.

Default Re: Tomic on a 3-week trial with Malisse

Malisse could hardly be bothered about his own career, let alone someone eles's...

So far, coaching hasn't really proved to be a post-career success for Malisse: his collaborations with Flipkens and Bemelmans were short-lived and unsuccessful. I don't think he has coaching skills: he is too timid and he's not a particularly hard worker.

Tomic needs a coach that is a father-and-boss-like figure at the same time. Malisse is just not that kind of guy.
