Clay-season over for Joćo Sousa, unless he asks for a WC at some CH for 2nd week of RG... He defends about 75% of his rank from now-on, until the end of the season. He is playing better now, but let's see if he steps-up in the grass season.

Looks like Sousa is back on business. Huge chance to get some points this week in Den Bosch.

He really played well today It is good to see him in ATP Tournaments as I remember him in the CHs from TT.

Actually, Sousa doesn't play any Challenger since July from last year. It's an ATP player nowadays.

Default Re: Joćo and Pedro Sousa

Another great week for Joćo Sousa came to an end. He took full advantage of a great draw after Ferrer and Tursunov retired, and reached the SF in grass at Hertogenbosch. More than 100 points secure him something like top40 again, and direct accepptance at both American Hard-court Masters 1000, just before USOpen.

He should have taken those BP today against Becker, both to avoid losing the first set, and to win the second, but evenso, great week!

Now, off to Wimbledon, maybe he has a chance of a decent run, if Wawa isn“t feeling well, as he wasn“t this week...

But, anyhow, what matters the most is that he got his confidence back!

These days, he loks more and more like a low-bounce courts player, and much less a clay-courter. But after Wimby, he chose to play four ATP Clay events, before the USOpen Series. Not sure if this was the best choice.

Go Joćo!

Joćo needs to step-it up now, after a very decent grass season. I don“t understand why he chose Clay over HC on his prep for USOpen. He will play a maximum of four clay ATP tournaments, immediately before two ATP1000 and the USOpen. On my opinion, his game is nowadays much more suited for HC.
He has to defend 128 points in July, and then 430!!! points from USOpen to Malaysia.
He is doing well this week in Bastad, has a decent chance to get to the SF, and he really should, if he wants to take advantage of this next two months before the USOpen to start getting those extra-points that will keep him in Top50 until the end of the season. It“s hard, but doable.

Next semifinal for Joćo in this season, after not good match against Lajovic, tomorrow's match against defending champion Berlocq will very hard, but I has hope that Joćo will winner

Default Re: Joćo and Pedro Sousa

Huge victory against Berlocq today, since the Warlocq has been playing really well on clay this season. He won in POrtugal, beating Raonic and Berdych there, and yesterday he had taken Ferrer in two sets. Now, Joćo has a great chance to be seeded at the USOpen, and, as a matter of fact, I see him winning the final tomorrow (that would imediately guarantee him the extra 100 points he needs to be seeded on the US, and to reach Top30).
And he also has a decent draw next week in Hamburg ATP500.
But the most important thing about this victory is what it does to Joćo's confidence playing on clay, which was destroyed after the regular April-May clay-season, where he lost almost every match.
Now, it makes a bit more sense why he chose to play on clay this month.
Go Joćo, the next Top30!

Joćo lost badly against Cuevas today. But still another great week. He now will reach Top35, and he is about 90 points away from being seeded at the USOpen (he will play a maximum of 5 or 6 tournaments, including two Masters, until the USOpen). He will probably make it, but he needs to achieve much more than that, since he will start to discount half the points of his rank, from the USOpen onwards. A great achievement would be to finish the season within Top50. Still, he has now done enough to secure Top100 finish to the season, and Aussie Open direct acceptance, even if he would lose all matches til the end of the season.

Can anyone give me a light on Pedro? What is the reason he hasn't played at all in 2014 and now is in the Q for US Open? Thank you in advance
