From what I read, I have the impression that there's no country where there has been more media campaign against Federer than Serbia then I don't think it's possible.
Moreover, I think one of the possible reasons why Djokovic pulled out of Belgrade open may be that top-players want to practice enough on blue clay before Madrid tournament, if they really fear this clay is different as they said.

Re: Djokovic pulls out of Djokovic Open
Not even Simon Reed could have jinxed this result.

Re: Djokovic pulls out of Djokovic Open
smart decision ... even if it wasn't for his grandpa passing away, Djokovic has nothing to gain at this little tournament.

It would indeed be hilarious if Federer won the Nole Open.
Would be revenge for Novak winning Basel in 2009 or whenever it was.

Re: Djokovic pulls out of Djokovic Open
Great great great great great decision once again from Nole. I hope he spends more time with his family while preparing for clay vengence

Re: Djokovic pulls out of Djokovic Open
smart decision.......
nole had a fool decision when he played monte-carlo`s final against nadal in a very bad momentum.
now , with the points of that final , nole doesn`t lost points , he won 600 points , more points that in belgrade.
he needs to recover his emotional energy and his body too , nadal play all the clay season and maybe he will be more tired for madrid/rome and nole can take advantage

For once, I agree with you. Djokovic not being in that tournament makes it better, since he don't know who could take it now. No one in the field can ever stand up against Djokovic, so the tournament will be better with him not playing.

Ljubicic is probably kicking himself for retiring prematurely. Missed his chance for glory.

wow, for once I agree with Sapeod . They won't have any big stars, but it is going to be interesting. Even as a Nole/Murray fan I'm getting tired of top 4 guys winning everything. GOD, PLEASE GIVE US SOME COMPETITION (sorry I had to yell, lol)

Re: Djokovic pulls out of Djokovic Open
lol at Federer playing in Belgrade btw ... it would be cool, but it probably won't happen. And to the guy who said, Serbs don't like Fed ...I respectfully disagree. Fed is loved everywhere, or maybe I'm naive... not sure :-)

This is great news. Shows he's really serious about winning the French.
