I'm talking about this season. Spanish duopoly on 91 and 84 points, Scottish duopoly on 87 and 66 points with same number of games. Motherwell are closer than Valencia.

Germany is just a better organized country (I'm sure the Dutch, Austrian and Swiss leagues are equally well run). But the fans are less passionate and the spending power is not on the level of EPL.

That aside, when you look at Man Utd's squad, how many players would you say are world class? For me probably only two; Rooney and Vidic. Some other players are world class on their day, but not on a consistent basis. Their midfield is very ordinary and that is further highlighted by the fact that they've had to get a 38 year old out of retirement.
This is purely subjective. Rooney, Hernandez, Berbatov, Owen, Valencia, Nani, Carrick, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, De Gea - there's plenty of world class talent. Where they're lacking is a couple extra world class midfielders (obviously Scholes and Giggs need replacing) and maybe one more defender.

It isn't because like I said, most of that talent isn't world class on a consistent enough basis. Yes Nani might have a game where he is aboslutely on fire, but how often does that occur? Evra this season has been very average and cost his teams a few goals earlier on in the seasons (When their first slump of the season occured), Valencia is probably the only one out of the players you listed that is on the verge of world class. The others show glimpses of their potential but very rarely do they show it consistently.

Terrible result for Montpellier as that was their easiest game left. Only home game remaining is against Lille who still have a chance at defending their title. And now Belhanda will be suspended too.

Lille are still eight points back so they'd need to win every game and hope Montpellier lose another one somewhere.

The Sun what a classy paper they are. Taking out a front page to mock Hodgson's speech impediment, not like they'd do anything with Redknapp's illiteracy.

LOL how is this a knee jerk reaction. Many Man Utd season ticket holders who have watched their team year in year out have said that this is the weakest Man Utd team for 20 years. It's hard to disagree that is worse team than the ones with peak Giggs-Scholes-Keane-Beckham across the midfield, Ronaldo-Rooney-Tevez up front, Cole, Yorke and Sheringham and Solskjaer as striking options, Jaap Stam and Peter Schmeichel at the back etc. This current team is more mechanical than their free flowing teams of previous years. The 2006/2007 season was probably the best football I've ever seen them play.

In the Premier League era, really the only Man Utd team that you could argue that this current team was better than, was their transitional team from 2004-2006, but that team still had Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo and Rooney when they were young and fearless, peak Ferdinand and Gary Neville at the back etc.

Really it's not an insult to Man Utd to say that this is their weakest team for 20 years. It's a testament to the spirit of the club and their legendary manager, that they can still challenge for titles and win trophies when they are struggling (for their high standards) and in transition.

Top quality non-British players would join Stoke if the salary was right. If Madrid and Farca weren't protected by local government they'd be in the same position as Rangers.
We all know about how Barcelona and Real Madrid's unfair advantages, and it would be interesting to see how stacked up in the champions league if La Liga had a proper TV deal like the EPL or Bundesliga, and these clubs weren't continually bailed out by the authorities and their local banks.

Still for now they are by far the two biggest and most glamorous clubs in the world and will both be major forces in Europe for the foreseeable future

Man Utd need to offer bigger salaries to their transfer targets if they want to continue to compete with Barcelona, RM, City etc for the big prizes. Sneijder would be a Man Utd player now if they didn't have such a strict wage structure.

The spending level is in Germany more reasonable than in England, considering that many clubs in EPL only "live" cause of their owners who give a shit about financial fair play. In Germany you have the rule that investors are only allowed to invest 49,9% in Bundesliga-Clubs.
