This.

When was the last time that a player without a big weapon (like Murray) won Slams and ended a year as #1?

It was Hewitt a decade ago. And not only was Hewitt much stronger mentally than Murray, he also benefited from an era without dominant great players, which is not the case now. As soon as Federer reached his peak, Hewitt's limitations were fully exposed, just like Murray's are now every time he does deep in Slams.

Not sure if you're trolling or being serious, or whether you're ignorant or plain stupid. You don't need a Federer forehand to win slams (all be it, it does help), as long as you have a balanced game, great movement and great defense, you can do a lot of things in this era.

Besides, Murray is capable of playing aggressive. When he does, he's capable of beating anyone.

Djokovic doesn't exactly have a great forehand. Pretty sure he's been doing just fine on the tour in the last year and a bit.

Lol. Idiot???

Hewitt's limitations? The guy had an all-rounded game, no weaknesses (all be it not a huge shotmaker), but his balanced game, along with arguably the greatest mover the game has seen, coupled with his abilty to take the ball early on the rise and play aggressive on big points won him slams.

Where Murray fails in slam finals is that he's too defensive. He is stuck playing the wrong game, like the other Andy; It has nothing to do with technical ability.

Murray can handily defeat the top 3 outside of slams, but it's way past time for him to do it when it matters the most.

Djokovic lost his first slam final in straight sets to the GOAT and used that experience to win the next slam meeting. He did the same with Nadal: lost their first slam final, then won the next final. Back then, if you wanted to crack the Fedal duopoly, you had to defeat one of them and sometimes both of them. Safin did it in 2005; del Potro did it in 2009; and Djokovic did it in 2008, 2011 & this year.

No excuses for Murray. Yes this is the most dominant top 3 in tennis history but as others have proved, their dominance isn't entirely impenetrable.

Actually win a slam or at least win a set in a slam final then come back to talk to us .

Sure, and that was enough to snatch two Slams and be ranked #1 while there was no dominant player around. As soon as Federer reached his prime, it was curtains for Hewitt. He fought a lot and remained top 5 for quite some time, but his lack of weapons was completely exposed by a much superior Federer.

Murray is too defensive because that's his game, he doesn't have the weapons to be a primarily offensive player.

With "other Andy", you mean Roddick, right? For all the stick Roddick gets for losing all those finals to Federer, he actually made 3 of those 4 finals very competitive, especially Wimbledon 2004 and 2009. That's more than we can say about Murray.

The only problem with this theory is that those players you mention are much better than Murray.

Safin had a fantastic serve and incredible power off both wings, not to mention brilliant touch at the net. He was a headcase and an underachiever, but when he was on, he could beat anyone, including Federer and Sampras.

Delpo beat Federer and Nadal in 2009 USO with insane power off both wings, especially blisteting forehands one after another. That's how you win Slams, not by pushing and allowing Federer to dictate with his forehand as Murray has done on two occasions now.

Djokovic needs no presentations; not only did he beat Fedal, but he became a dominant player himself.

All this talk is premature. Murray should worry about staying in the top4
Last N1 or grand slam winner with no forehand?

Sorry Djokonauts, I am a fan of Federer now. I've learned over the years to appreciate his contribution to the game. No one will ever surpass this man's influence.
Federer ~ The consummate professional. Never retired once in a match. Does not go over the time limit on every point.
