5 years ago, Nalby was cruising in one of the most awesome draws EVER
2007 Madrid Masters.
Nalby was an unseeded player and made this awesome draw:
R1: def Clement 5-7 6-2 6-4
R2: def (9) Berdych 4-6 6-4 7-6(2)
R3: def (WC) Del Potro 6-2 6-4
QF: def (2) Nadal 6-1 6-2
SF: def (3) Djokovic 6-4 7-6(4)
F: def (1) Federer 1-6 6-3 6-3
Probably the most difficult and awesome draw someone crushed.
Nalby
The guy was coming from injuries and he made that amazing tournament, and don't forget he also won the next masters in Paris, defeating Almagro, Moya, Federer, Ferrer, Gasquet and Nadal.
We miss you, Nalb! Get well soon, and if it's possible, make such an awesome thing again when you come back.
Do you remember any other AMAZING draws like that one?

Nice! He can now also take the title of the non-slam winning GOAT since Andy now has one.

in other news: nalbandian announced he is out for the rest of the season - whether he will carry on and play next season is unknown.

...And that's pretty amazing.
Also Tsonga, and every player just to piss me off.
I like Berdych tennis, I just love it, but I can like him if he ALWAYS play great vs my favs.
But still, one year ago I just couldn't see his face, now i'm ok with him.

Not amazing really. If he went on to make something of beating Roger it would be amazing but he doesn't. Rather pathetic how he bends over afterwards actually.

Weak era. He beat that clown in the final who profited from the weak era far more than anyone else. Don't get me started on the moonballer he got a walkover against in the SF.

Decent draw but I can't help but think every player there was either not trying, injured or subjected to copious amounts of bad luck.

All made at least one Grand Slam final in their careers. Berdych and del Potro hadn't at the time but in years to come.
Other tough Masters 1000 wins:
Djokovic 2007 Canada:
Code:
Round Player (country) Rank Score
R32 Nicolas Kiefer (GER) 254 6-3, 6-3
R16 David Nalbandian (ARG) 26 6-2, 6-3
Q Andy Roddick (USA) 3 7-6(4), 6-4
S Rafael Nadal (ESP) 2 7-5, 6-3
W Roger Federer (SUI) 1 7-6(2), 2-6, 7-6(2)
Henman 2003 Paris:
Code:
Round Player (country) Rank Score
R64 Nikolay Davydenko (RUS) 46 6-3, 6-4
R32 Sebastien Grosjean (FRA) 11 3-6, 6-4, 7-5
R16 Gustavo Kuerten (BRA) 17 6-4, 6-2
Q Roger Federer (SUI) 3 7-6(5), 6-1
S Andy Roddick (USA) 2 7-6(4), 7-6(7)
W Andrei Pavel (ROU) 191 6-2, 7-6(6), 7-6(2)
