Indian Wells R1: Davydenko def. Bubka 7/5 6/3 (warning: extreme choke)
Well, all that one needs to know about this match is an enormous choke from Bubka.
He was leading 5/0 40/15 and since then had more or less 6 SPs (in 6th and 10th game).
Choke of the season contender?
Monfils in R2 for Davydenko.

Indian Wells R1: Davydenko def. [Q] Bubka 7-5 6-3
What a comeback for Nikolay in the first set. Bubka came out serving great based on the stats and broke Nikolay in his first two return games, to take a 5-*0 lead. He only lost two points on serve to that point, served at around 70%, totally dominant in the match to that point. Davydenko saved two break points to fend off a bagel in the first set, and that started the comeback. Three breaks in a row for Nikolay from 1-*5 to *6-5, as Bubka's serve percentage tumbled and Nikolay was doing a lot of damage on second serve returns. Davydenko won around seven points on serve overall in finding himself *0-5 40-AD down, and ended up losing about three more points on serve the rest of the set.
Davydenko broke for *2-1 in the second set and saved a break point with an ace in his next service game to take complete command of the match.
This is the machine we've all come to love. Matches like this in the past few years he would have just allowed slip away but he fought back wonderfully here, and after the terrible start he won the big points and close games on his serve and on return. Will be very interesting to see him now vs. Monfils in the next round. A mental win like this should give Davydenko a lot of confidence.

The biggest choke in a set this year, what would you expect more? Only a one-point bigger difference between a loser and a winner...

Epic comeback from 0-5 15-40*!!!
Too bad there wasn't a livestream so no idea what happened there, whether Denko suddenly started playing a lot better (he suddenly woke up at about 6 setpoints down? ) or whether Bubka's level took a plunge, I guess a combination of both.
Great job, Kolya!

Nope. Lajovic choke against Viola was worse... the serb was ahead 5-0 40-0 in the third set in AO qualies.

Let's give Nikolay the benefit of the doubt, though. He could have easily packed it in but he held off the break points down 0-5 and came back. He could have thrown the set away and didn't. Plus his return numbers after the horrible start were great. We don't know how it happened but we do all know that when Davydenko is on, he's capable of streaks like this.

Yea, Denko had no business getting bageled no matter how bad he played. Still unreal choke.
