Federer: I can't believe the umpires don't punish Rafa for his time wasting
Quote:
Roger Federer was unequivocal at the BNP Paribas Open here Wednesday.
"I think they are being too loose about it," the Swiss No. 3 said when asked if the time rule was being properly enforced by umpires.
Federer even took a swipe at his respected rival, Nadal, a notoriously pokey competitor.
"I don't know how you can go through a four-hour match with Rafa and him never getting a time violation," he added.
Nadal, speaking Thursday, disagreed. He said the rule is being enforced properly but must be applied according to match conditions.
"The rules are there, but you cannot expect to play a six-hour match, play rallies of crazy points and rest 20 seconds," the No. 2 Spaniard said.

Link.
Federer of late seems a bit cranky and bitter. Focus on your tennis, bro.
That said, the umpires are a bunch of pussies.

Anyone who isn't a tard agrees with what Rogi said here.

Fedmug
I didn't see him making a big issue of "time wasting" during '06 and '07. Just another look at the real Federer, who is all class when dominating, but a bitter old geezer who needs something to bitch about in his twilight years.

Re: Federer: I can't believe the umpires don't punish Rafa for his time wasting
He's right, but it's not just Nadal. With that said, the time rule should either be enforced or deleted from the rule books. I don't blame Rafa, Djokovic and others for taking 30, 35 seconds if they need 30, 35 seconds between a point after a grueling baseline exchange. The rule itself should probably just be done away with so this debate can be done away with.

Yeah it's gonna be real funny when 2 players give it their all to play a 4 hour match, which will be decided by the shot clock awarding penalty points.

It's simple there are rules they should be enforced irrespective, it's easy enough to give Berlocq or Chela time violations.

Re: Federer: I can't believe the umpires don't punish Rafa for his time wasting
One solution for the shot clock would be to allow the servers to break it a limited amount of times (an extra ten seconds or so) after long rallies. Once they use up all of their extensions, then the warnings will happen. Of course, I don't think the shot clock would be popular amongst players these days.

Eliminate the rule in it's entirety and let the players control the time. That's the only really logical option.

No, that is not logical.

that was pretty much the clay warrior`s reply to this. he said in a match that lasts 6 hours and has many rallies, it should be left to the chair umpires discretion.
looking at it that way, clay warrior is right.
also i dont understand why Fed is complaining. he is the one who has won 33 of this last 35 matches so life is good.
and its not like he is running into nadal in the finals of slams either.
why not let the sleeping dogs do their thing. leave the sleeping dogs alone.
pissing off your main adversaries is never good as far as i am concerned. they can use it as a bit of a motivation.
finally the best of the best do have those certain rights. they deserve that for having scaled the summit.
no-djok actually took more time than the clay warrior at the Oz final but it is ok. he has earned that right.
and as i said, he is the one who is engaging in these brutal 6 hour battles so why the hell not take a few extra seconds to collect yourself.

Re: Federer: I can't believe the umpires don't punish Rafa for his time wasting
Roger is right. I couldn't agree more. Rafa needs to be punished. He spends half the match scratching his butt and traversing the court. Same with guys like Chela, Nole, Tomic and other pompous players.
