Wow, those are some serious dishes, Sophocles. (Had to look up John Dory too ) ..They put the little chicken meatloaf I'm in the midst of making to shame

Is there a huge difference? I do eat more North Indian than South though, but both are equally common in Singapore. Haven't tried any Indian food in London save this one time at some food fair. It was really bland.

Nice . I've had some friend Intern at investment banks in London and I thought about it myself (at least applying) but in the end they just work too damn much, I wouldn't have time for anything else .

Yeah, South Indian food is definitely different from North Indian food. North Indian is more well known...most people like it better I think. South Indian food is also vegetarian.

I love to cook! If there is one "chore" I definitely like to let my wife have a break from, it is cooking. I cook any kind of dish, but Japanese and Middle Eastern dishes are my speciality since that is what I grew up with

I'll post pics of foods I make later. Whenever I make what I feel is a masterpiece for my family, I take a picture anyways, so my camera has a load of food pics, haha.

Although, I can admit I do love eating more than cooking and I love everything. Have yet to try something I don't like and I've been to many countries in the world. Though sadly, it appears my taste buds are getting worse from my spicy food addiction..

My favorite dish is call Chicken Paprika or Chicken Paprikash, it is a Slovenian Dish, which has an unbelievable taste. It has a lot of cream, a lot of paprika, some onions, chicken, as well as, your choice of dumplings, rice, or some variation of pasta. It is a longer process, but is well worth it.

Magnifico
I love to cook just about anything really. Can't name just one favourite dish to eat/cook because IMO, it reflects a slight inexperience with food/cooking. But a simple, healthy dish I like to make sometimes is pan-fried/barbequed barramundi cutlet (or fillet if I can't get a hold of cutlets), S&P and a squeeze of lemon/lime, and I usually serve that with a simple salad with vinaigrette - just some leaves like rocket, cos lettuce, endives (if I can get a hold of any), cherry tomatoes; all tossed in vinaigrette which is just simply olive oil, lemon juice, a touch of water, salt and pepper. That's it.

But I've made other dishes like spag bol (and other pasta dishes), pizza (who hasn't), classic aussie burgers (not your usual ones; this one I make is jam-packed with ingredients), pepper steak, salads (an array of different types) and I also love to experiment in making dressings and marinades - basically an endless search to make the best tasting ones. For more extravagant dishes (I suppose), I've made chilli crab (the more Western version), paella (with the help of my mate at his place, never made it by myself before), and I have to say probably the most extravagant dish I've made on my own, so far, is Cochinita Pibil - probably the best slow-roasted pork dish I've ever had in my life. It's so good, it's not funny (yes it's from Once Upon A Time In Mexico, but I knew about that dish before that movie because I had it in a restaurant before I decided to make it myself). So tart and hot... just melts in your mouth.

Anyways that's just quick snapshot of some of the dishes I make and what I've made before. Like I said, I cook when I have spare time such as when I'm on holidays, when I'm home alone, on vacation, etc...

Your favourite dish sounds interesting. Haven't had much exposure to Slovenian food yet, but I'll check it out whenever I can.

Also, feel free to discuss any other food-related topics; such as interesting articles you've read and if you'd like to share it here, go for it.

Elizabeth David is exceptionally good though. (And an excellent writer: you can read her books in bed and she has an entry in the Oxford Companion to English Literature.) If you trust her and do what she says, it always comes good in the end. For example, I made a piquant sauce for ham the other night and half-way through the sauce looked absolutely disgusting, lumpy, & horrible; but by the end, it was fine and quite delicious. The only thing I have failed to master using her instructions is sodding poached eggs.

Made braised lamb cut into bite sized pieces, with a homemade cream pesto on top, sundried tomatoes, topped with Fresh Parmigiano Reggiano, of course on top of a bed of delicious Capenelli pasta.

Also this is making me really happy to know that others have a love for cooking as much as me

I have both fond memories and nightmares of the time when I tried the famous Chivito sandwich:

Beef, bacon, ham, cheese, a fried egg, tomato, peppers, onions and mayonnaise in the largest, most stacked sandwich I've seen in my life. I was too full to eat anything for about 24 hours afterwards.

There are so many varieties. It's like all Indian food is spicy, well the northern part it's not spicy at all.
