What's the difference between IW 04-06 and IW nowadays?
I mean, court-wise and Fed-form-wise.
That guy won it in 04-06 and never after managed to get to the final...
Was it something completely changed/wrong with the swiss or the court has changed drastically since?

ROGER FEDERER: No, Roger Federer doesn't pull out. Otherwise he doesn't walk on court (smiling).
After losing to Nalbandian in 2005 TMC final...

Difference is between peak & decline.

He can't serve his way out of trouble in these tournaments.

and maybe because the top dogs are in full flight mode during the north american spring HC season, usually healthy, eager to win and mentally fresh? I'm not saying that's the explanation, just asking...i'm sure some tards like we know who would agree with it...

Re: What's the difference between IW 04-06 and IW nowadays?
Has nothing to do with top dogs. Olderer playing on faster courts has huge advantage because he has the best serve out of murray/nadal/djoke. If every hc masters 1000 had dubai surface he would have many more of them

Re: What's the difference between IW 04-06 and IW nowadays?
Surface, peak/decline of course.
But also Fed came back from mono in 2008 (lost to Fish and Roddick, and had not played in february in 2009 (withdrew from Dubai, I don't remember which problem he had) and 2010 (lung infection).
And he has not done that great in summer tournaments either
Nadal doesn't like Cinci and has his peak period finished after Wimbledon. Djokovic is usually fitter in march than in summer.

I'm not so sure about IW...but I KNOW that MIAMI / Key Biscaine was the Fastest or one of the fastest Masters tournaments...up to 06...Last year was a the slowest HC in the history of tenis - hence the outcome of the Fed-Nadal match where he was disgusted with the court and himself...

I'm afraid you are wrong here, Miami has historically been one of the slowest hard court tournament ever. Usual high humidity over there make it even slower than Indian Wells.

Cincy, WTF, Basel are fast/indoors/low-bouncing, A.O. is a slam. Indian Wells & Miami are slow high-bouncing outdoor tournaments & it is on slow hard courts that Federer's decline has been most pronounced.
