Default Fed, Nadal, Djoko : Monte-Carlo, Madrid, Barca, Rome. Who is playing what??

I'm not sure...Maybe you know more.
Things as I know them:

MC - Only Nadal. However, I heard something about Fed might get in on this. When will we know?
Madrid - All 3.
Barca - Only Nadal.
Rome - All 3.

Is that right?

i think Fed will play MC

his chance to reach no.2 before RG are higher now and he'd love to be in that position and having 50% possibility of Djokovic-Nadal semi

Fed had better drag his ass to MC, I'm going to the semi's and want to see him play.

Fed said something the other week about how he hadn't committed to Monte Carlo 'yet.' I can see him doing so, if it's just him and Rafa then he could get 600 points out of it if he doesn't mug it up.

He should not go to MC to drag down his confidence against Nadal at best, Djokovic was very smart last year playing the fast claycourt tournaments in Rome and Madrid. If not for anything else Federer should want full confidence playing Nadal in a potential Wimbledon final/Olynpics.

This will be a long year and Federer has played more matches than anyone this year already, he needs some rest before the core of the year begins (RG-Wimbledon-Olympics-USOPEN and 4 master series).

Default Re: Fed, Nadal, Djoko : Monte-Carlo, Madrid, Barca, Rome. Who is playing what??

I thought Fed wasn't playing MC as a journo tweeted he's taking April off.

Currently I think its:

MC: Rafa, Andy, Novak (he's said in an interview he's playing I think - bad news for Rafa!)
Barcelona: Rafa, Andy
Madrid: Andy, Novak, Fed, (Rafa: he's made comments suggesting Madrid's not confirmed i.e. will depend on how the season has gone uptil then)
Rome: All 4

How Nadal does in Miami, MC & Barca will influence his Madrid choice - he doesn't like the altitude and it's blue clay this year which he seems to be against too. May take a break. As for Fed overtaking Rafa it's a definite possibility now but then again Rafa should do better on clay and should really do better in Miami - he was better overall this week than Fed, discounting yesterday's match in which the conditions were not what you would expect in Miami.... Roland Garros is still quite a while away though it's true that Rafa's defending titles or finals while Fed can gain.

Any possible sources from where we can know whether Fed decides to play or not?
And are you sure Djoko might actually play MC? This tournament is great for Nadal and because of Novak's poor recent results he should try to save his strength for titles defending at Madrid and Rome...

I reckon they all will play Monte Carlo. Unless Fed wins IW/Miami back to back.

Otherwise, 1000 easy points for Rafa

I wouldn't mind Rafa skipping Madrid, but you know he won't.

Fed playing MC won't affect Rafa - he's more likely to lose on clay to Novak than Fed. Frankly I hope he steps it up this year on clay - his presser the other day didn't fill me with confidence:

Quote:
Q. In just a while, the tour will be going to the clay season. When you get out there on clay, what's the feeling like? You feel more confident?
RAFAEL NADAL: On clay?

Q. On clay.
RAFAEL NADAL: I feel more nervous. That's the first thing that I feel, because I feel that I have more chances to play well and to win. I feel more nervous. But the real thing at the end, if I feel that I am playing more ‑‑ well, on clay I feel more, a little bit more safe. I have more time for everything. I have more time to think about what I have to do in every ball, to think about how to play, you know, think about a little bit more about tactics. Here sometime serve and the first ball are very important, first two shots there. You can start a point sometimes slower; you can play aggressive. You have the chance to defend; you have the chance to attack. Here, defending, just defending probably is impossible.
He has to be the biggest confidence player ever to reach the upper echelons of the game - even after everything he's achieved he's so nervous and needs to win a lot to start believing. Complete opposite to Fed and his unwavering belief in himself. Rafa needs to win MC, Barcelona and Rome and frankly he should do - at his best he's still the best on clay and he needs to reclaim that territory. I don't care about Madrid and I really think he will skip it if he does well at the others. Ideal scenario - win Miami, MC, Barcelona, skip Madrid, win Rome - wishful thinking but what would suit him best.

Nah, I dont think Federer will and should play MC. First of all the surface does him no favours. Its true clay at its worst, Fed wont do crap there. Secondly, he has played so much tennis already this year, at his age it would be senseless to play basically the whole of February and March, and then take to court on clay mid april. Thirdly, I am sure Fed wants to be fit and strong during the Wimbledon-0lympics stretch, overplaying on clay at this stage of his career wont help. Fed doesnt need to overplay on clay anyway. Rome and Madrid will be enough going to RG.

I doubt Nadal will sit out of Madrid. Okay, I have heard he is unhappy with the blue clay and all, but Madrid's high altitude makes its clay Federer's best. Federer has a shot at the title, even with Nadal in the draw, without him Federer and Djokovic are almost equal favorites on that sort of clay.
Especially if Fed wins IW and puts up a decent run in Miami, and Nadal doesnt take Miami title, sitting out of Madrid will be a retarded decision. Last thing he wants is Fed getting to number 2 and be given luck of the Paris draw in RG (I of course sincerely hope so)

Check the Upcoming Tournaments, there is a section called Entry Lists, then you will see who is there.

Monte Carlo - Djokovic, Nadal, Murray ...
Barcelona - Nadal, Murray ...
Madrid - ALL
Rome - ALL

Federer won´t be playing Monte Carlo I personally think, he´s too smart with his schedulling to do it.

Another big issue is Djokovic. Will he be playing Davis Cup in Prague ? And then, will he play in Monte Carlo ? He said yes, but if I were him (just wondering) I would pull out from Davis Cup, because he wouldn´t have real break to US Open then (only week before Olympics - because I mean real break, not week or two).

Nadal has got many points to defend in Monte Carlo and it´s only tournie where Novak can gain some crucial points till autumn (except Roland Garros). So he should certainly play here.

I think Roger will play Montercalo, but he won't be prepared 100% for it, I mean I think after Miami he will rest and then play MC without too much preparation/train for clay, he will play MC just for training and don't lose points and with a "lets see how it goes.."

hmm defending madrid + rome will be a hard task for djokovic. don't forget he has to play the 250 in belgrad just before the two masters.
