It was completely by accident (I believe he wanted to give the ball to a ball girl) and the ball hit the umpire chair with almost no pace at all, that's why it was a retarded warning.

That was exactly my impression of the incident as well (for as far as I could see what actually happened - I thought I had perhaps missed something as to why he got a warning).
Rather a  decision of that ump to give him a warning for that, indeed.
