Re: WWW Marseille R2 : Del Potro vs Davydenko
its a shame davydenko has to face the goat so early in the tournament. i predict him to go down in 3 hard fought sets.

Re: WWW Marseille R2 : Del Potro vs Davydenko
Davydenko is a bad match up for most big hitters, he's 3-1 vs Del Potro, 9-2 vs Berdych, and 2-0 vs Tsonga.
Del Potro will need to serve huge and not finish points off with big shots otherwise he has no chance really considering the way Davydenko's been playing of late.
Saying that I have faith in my man, Juan in 3.

Re: WWW Marseille R2 : Del Potro vs Davydenko
Nikolay should take this pretty easily. He has been playing some very good tennis and his play style is one that Del Potro does not want to play: consistent, deep, on-the-rise hitting. Takes away time from Del Potro and puts him in uncomfortable positions to hit winners from.

Re: WWW Marseille R2 : Del Potro vs Davydenko
If Davydenko brings any level that he had from last week, then he can win in 2 sets. JMDP was atrocious in his last match . Should be a really nice match to watch though (on paper anyway). Looking forward to it.

Hope so, yep.
Don't get me wrong, I like JMDP as well, but Denko just needs some big wins a little bit more right now I think.

Ya I can't believe how sharply Pony's level fell from the Berdych match to the Federer match. Absolutely nightmare, that first set, from the Delpo fan's perspective I like both these guys so I don't care who wins as long as it's competitive. Delpo better not lose another 6-1 set though or I will be so mad

It has a lot to do with matchups I think.
Berdych and DelPotro play what one might say a 'same' style of game, and JMDP happened to be a lot, lot better than Tomas on that particular day. Federer, and Davydenko, are of a different breed: their way to make life difficult for hard-hitters is to aggressively force them to move around very quickly, in which they will only succeed when somehow being able to avoid making a lot of UEs themselves.
They only manage to do so irregularly though.
Even though Fed demolished JMDP pretty easily in that first set of the Rotterdam final, one shouldn't forget that JMDP got plenty of good chances during the second. The Rotterdam final surely wasn't as much as a blow-out as JMDP's semi against Berdych was.
Looking forward to a great match. Hopefully.

Re: WWW Marseille R2 : Del Potro vs Davydenko
Well said, Sunset of Age. I personally believe that if Delpo had taken one of his bajillion break points in the 2nd set (okay, fine, one of five bp's), he might have pushed it to a 3rd set and then who knows what would have happened? Credit to Federer for playing amazing on most of those break points even if Delpo did push a very makeable bh long on one of those bp's

Yeah same, I like JMDP too, but Denko is good for the game when he's playing great. I just think dP hasn't been all that impressive except for the beatdowns over Troicki and Berdych. Other than that, he's been dogshit. So yeah, for sure, it's a winnable match for Davydenko.
Berdych probably had a bad day is all. Shit happens.
