How do we rate Roger's chances for 18 and 77 folks?

Negative. Berdych-Murray-Djokovic will be too much for him. Especially on these slow ass courts and with stupid saturday.

He's playing good. If it wasn't for that stupid saturday I'd rank his chances high.

A tough semi against Murray will ruin his chances (if both get that far).

And they all lived happily ever after.
Long live King Federer!

well... i'm uncertain. from semifinal to the w... everything is possible here. with tsonga out, murray now is a lock for the semi. if delpo can't stop djokovic in the quarter, djoker will cruise to the final...

i really don't know

We shall see. Almagro and Querrey can both take Berdych out on a good day. There's a slim chance Raonic might beat Murray if his serve really clicks and his return improves on the last two matches. Djokovic seems to be a lock, although Delpo and Tipsy are both capable of beating him.

I agree it's likely to be Murray and Djokovic back-to-back, but it's not a certainty...

Default Re: Federer : The Mother Of All Quests : 20 Slams And 100 Titles.

Oh ye Federer fans of little faith and expression...

Did you not just see him do what most said could never be done, win another major and leapfrog the two top players in the world to regain the #1 ranking at age 30? His age is just a number, forget it. Forget about his golden gift to Murray. Forget about him temporarily relinquishing his throne at the US Open from 2009-2011 while he was focused on his young family. He has stormed into this year's US Open off a record 5th win in Cincinnati, demolishing his rivals. This is the US Open, where he won 5 straight times; nobody else around has ever won 2. So he knows how to deal with Super Saturday and he is arguably playing better now than he has at anytime since 2006-2007.

Federer's aura is very high right now compared to all other players. Have you not noticed their deference on and off the court to the true King of Hard Courts and Grass? Even the reigning King of Clay, Rafael Nadal, has graciously stepped aside for a time to pay respect to his great rival. Federer graciously acknowledged this sacrifice with a personal mail to the Spaniard, wishing him further health and titles in the future.

It will take a very special performance to beat Mr. Federer in New York. Look at who is playing and their most recent performances on hard courts. Do you think anyone has it in them to beat him now?

Novak Djokovic is not the unbeatable usurper of 2011. He used up whatever magic was left in his egg in the 6 hour final in Australia with King Nadal. He looked in awe of Maestro Federer in Cincinnati. He's fortunate Federer wanted to give the fans their money's worth and permitted his level to drop after dishing out a bagel to the world #2 in the first set. Andy Murray, appeared to be still hungover from his Olympic Wimbledon win. A US Open semifinal is no guarantee for him, even with tired Jo-Wilfried Tsonga out. Murray could even lose to Jeremy Chardy again if they both make it that far. Anyone else? David Ferrer? 0-13? No chance. Tomas Berdych? He's mentally beaten before he steps on the court. Gentle Juan Martin Del Potro has the only chance if 100% healthy and he didn't seem to be in Cincinnati.

So career title #77 can very well come here, tying him for 3rd in the Open Era with John McEnroe, along with his 18th major, 7th title and 2nd major of the year. If he does win an Open Era record 6th US Open, on top of his other significant accomplishments this year, there is no doubt that this year will have to be ranked as one of his career's best years in light of his age and the level of his competition in their prime playing age. A win in Basel and a win at the World Tour Finals will only serve to crown this astonishing and almighty achievement.

Bit too much drama in the post..and Nadal bowing out to kiss Fed's feet, yeah right. But the to point. if Fed does manage another US Open again ( still big IF at this point), it's true it will be considered one of the best years ever and cements his GOAT claim that any of the other guys probably wont even get close to.

Lot of assumptions going in, but the question was aimed at that it probably increases Fed's changes assuming a long match with Murray that he eventually wins to have more time to recover for the final. They have had to push the final to the Monday a few times now due to rain.
