it is still not an easy final for the clay warrior.

he will have to produce the big money shots in the clutch. and of course it wouldnt hurt to return well.

translation: dont count fed out when he is playing as well as he is right now. he will be there to capitalize if the clay warrior does not produce the money shots.

Federer doesnt stand a chanse against the clay warrior in the final. He might beat Djokovic, which would make the final less exciting.

Fedal final is expected IMO.
Nadal is favorite of course, but Fed (or Nole, If he beats Roger) will have his chances to win.

Furthermore, Roger's also won a set in both of their two most recent clay meetings (Madrid 11, RG 11).

There is reason for optimism this time, I think.
I'm always very optimistic about Fed and I would like him to win, but today, Nadal was sometimes unreal. Fed has a chance, but a slim one.

Horse feathers! There's been two matches in their career HTH that haven't been competitive, and those were Roland Garros 2008, and World Tour Finals 2011. They've both held their own in all the other matches, and I expect no different from this one (if it happens of course).

it will be all about the the "money shots". clay warrior will have to make the money shots.

he is not the machine he used to be so now the game is more difficult for him. now he has to produce in the clutch.

before it simply happened instinctively. it used to be a given that he was not going to miss.

Nadal has always been clutch against federer if the match was a little tight (except for the 2007Wim final maybe). His style makes him clutch IMO

Rafa has won more often in tight situation, but not always (random examples: 2007 Wimbledon, 2010 WTF, 2004 Miami).

Bu anyway we needn't discuss Federer vs Nadal just yet. Djokovic is first and as good as Roger is playing right now it will hardly be shocking if he goes down to Nole anyway. Rafa losing tomorrow much less likely, but still I give Ferrer 10-15% chance. He has beaten Nadal on more important occasions than this.

fed winning rome would be a (positive) shocker.

i can see him beating djoker in the semis, but nadal in the final?!...

anyway, real deal will be wimbledon...

I reckon it will be a tight final if we get Fedal, could go either way. Both are playing great right now, will probably come down to key points here and there. I probably favour Rafa, he is the clay goat after all, no arguments from me.

Should be a good match anyway (if we get it).

Perhaps even more interesting - this is how they stand after correcting for age difference:

Rafael Nadal (25y, 11m, 14d; 17.05.2012)

GS titles = 10
GS finals = 15

Titles = 48
Finals = 69

Weeks at #1 = 102

Roger Federer (25.07.2007)

GS titles = 11
GS finals = 13

Titles = 49
Finals = 64

Weeks at #1 = 180
