Denis went from playing like a top-30 player the first two sets to a top-2000 player in the last one.
I wish I could only look at the positives in terms of his play the first two sets, but honestly, matches like these often tell you a lot about how a player will be mentally over their whole career.

Losing to an injured Duck whose practically handing you the match, is almost as bad as losing while being 6-0, *5-0 *40-0 up with an easy open-court put-away against Troicki.

Roddick really wasn't too injured, though. He was basically playing the same the whole match, it was more about how Denis' level changed.

i wouldn't be surprised if there were some tennis politics going on for Kudla to step aside for Roddick to move to the next round. After getting the break, Kudla literally stopped playing and committed about 20 UE to hand Andy the match (who I'm not sure even wanted it)

Tennis dies so badly if Duck wins this tournament now.

Incredible.

Tennis dies in a 250 tournament. I never knew how important San Jose was to the tennis world. When San Jose closes for good, that's it. Break your rackets, cut your strings and burn all your grip tape.

The universe of tennis that once stood in San f'ing Jose is dead. It's all over. Erect a statue of Pete Sampras, Ivan Lendl, and Arthur Ashe in its stead, and be sure to remind them that this legendary tournament that ended an incredible sport was never won by Nadal, Federer and Djokovic.

Nothing is as important in the entire tennis season as San Jose. And by god, if Andy Roddick wins, then truly, TRULY, Tennis dies here.

...Get a freakin clue.

One things for sure, Roddick ain't a Royal at the moment. The guys barely a commoner.

Come on. Let's not bury him just yet. He's 19. As far as I can tell, this is the first time he's played a seed in an ATP tournament, let alone a Top 25 player and national tennis hero.

Come on. Why even watch a sport if you think something like that is going on? Granted, it was an EPIC choke job, but that's what it was. A choke.

Well I guess at least it wouldn't be as bad as Sweeting winning Houston

The real question here is how was Roddick's mohawk looking?

Ajde.
