WTF? I turned this off at 1-1 and 0-40 on isners serve in the 4th and come back to see he held and won the set? isner was gifted this match back should have never got to a tb and was a a set and a break down. SMH
I do wonder why they had four months to prepare this court and they couldn't make it less high bouncing. Like they know Roger doesn't like the high ball, and Isner can bounce it not just high but over his head! About the only low bounces came on all the unpredictable bad bounces.

The high bouncing clay definitely and obviously worked in the tall Mr. Isner's favor. So much for Mr. Federer's RG practice session. Mr. Federer needs to play low slice to Mr. Isner to give him the most trouble and make Mr. Isner move. But with high bounces it's difficult to hit good slice, as much as it is trying to hit a one handed backhand with power.
Congratulations to the USA team for sweeping the opening day. Mr. Isner served and played quite well (especially after 3rd set tb), and I'm sure once he and Mr. Courier saw the way the ball was taking off, Isner went for more shots to take advantage of that. Team USA has to be favored now.
The home team definitely has to question the clay court implementation with extremely high bounce characteristics.
I would expect most on the planet know that Mr. Federer prefers low bouncing courts.
From the reports here, seems like Isner was awesome, taking the confidence from taking Rafa to 5 at RG 1st round into this match. HUGE win for Isner, holy shit, on clay in Swiss vs. Federer himself? Watch out John Isner to make top 10 this year.
How do you think Isner took Nadal to 5 sets at Roland Garros last year? See some highlights, Isner's serve were bouncing like 3m of the floor. Nadal needed 3 sets until gets the way on return his serves.
