Re: DC Round 1: Isner defeats Federer 4-6 6-3 7-6 6-2 (USA leads 2-0)
Why the talk about the excuses from Federer? I have not read anything until now. Federer himself has praised his opponent's game.
There seem to be fans, who are not able to read or understand interviews and are therefore willing to blame a fanbase or an athlete they don't like without sticking to facts. They need such discussions like a hole in the head. Ridiculous. Yes Roger has lost a match, as we know he is not getting younger, but we should not forget that his last loss in the Daviscup was in 2003. Not that bad after all and considering the fact that he is not part of a team with several strong players.

He's only played one tie a year since 2003. He lost several doubles rubbers and his singles were all against low ranked opps, except Czech Republic.

Why the hell is there a bee in a tennis stadium in Switzerland in the middle of February during one of the most frigid winters in the region?
Do the American players come from warm climates where they still have bees around? Was Federer attacked by a bee during practice??
I think we can all see what happened.

He played 15 matches without losing. This is not so bad, considering the fact he was always under enormous pressure, because Stan is not a very reliable Daviscup partner to say the least.
As I have said before, Roger could never count on a team with strong players like many other nations.

WTF.
Anyway Federer isn't making excuses and neither will I. Isner played great. Chances now look slim for Switzerland. Moving on...

Isner said he played better today than when he took Nadal to 5 last year at RG.

Re: DC Round 1: Isner defeats Federer 4-6 6-3 7-6 6-2 (USA leads 2-0)
Maybe this justs shows that Isner´s last year match against Nadal wasn´t a fluke. In a fast, high bounce clay court he can be a real threat. Even more with that huge second serve.
But it´s really bad, in my book, to lose against Isner on clay, if you´re a Top4/5. Bet Federer´s morale was in the shit, knowing he had to dig out the win in the tie, after watching Mugrinka failing against Fish.

Didn't he just play to get into the Olympics? He probably wants to lose so that he doesn't have to be bothered with any more Davis Cup, but do the minimum to get to Wimbledon. Any tournament where the umpire might call "Game set and match Switzerland'' instead of "Game, set and match Federer'' would be of little interest to Roger anyway.

Er because he lost too when his match was easier on paper?

No. He was already eligible.
Notice Djokovic, Nadal and Murray didn't play this weekend.

whenever you see Fed joking and playing around in practise (he was with Stan days before) , its never a good sign for him in that tournament
clown.
