-No, no sé.

Nalbandian: "It would change everything for a title in the Davis"

-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------

David takes a lifetime trying to win the bowl and, after the 4-1 win against Germany, relies on what may come this year for Argentina, said his retirement depends not win the cup, by Jose Luis Dominguez
February 13, 2012 - 00:22

BAMBERG. - As Argentina David Nalbandian for nearly ten years in the elite World Group Davis Cup. But now, the Cordoba does not hesitate: "The truth is that being so many years at first only a statistic, do not know what good is it if we did not win any Cup would change everything for a title in the Davis Cup. Although we were then down ". The series against Germany is history with a 4-1 victory that closes the debut of Martin Jaite as captain, and again with Argentina in the quarterfinals, with Croatia as a rival confirmed in a key that will be played from 6 to 8 April in the stadium Mary Terán de Weiss, Rock Park.

In the bowels of Stechert Arena, Nalbandian lends itself to conversation. After his success in the single and double in Bamberg, he looks in good shape. "I ended up tired, but is normal after playing nine sets in two days," he admits, and speaks of the special preparation he made to get it to this match: "When you change your area, you adapt takes several days longer than usual. I think this series was prepared very well. then it is logical that if he had won in straight sets two days would have been any shorter and easier, but there have to fight and run some more, but I'm happy to have won ".

-For the next game you will have less time to adapt because it's stuck in Miami. Do I still have done good is this preparation?

Yes, now we will play several tournaments on clay, and if you think about it, the only two remaining cement there are Indian Wells and Miami, because after you return to clay for the European tour, so those two are actually cut you slow tennis tour.

- How do you imagine the series against Croatia?

-Lack. We're still here, after this series in which it went very well and we are still missing. The important thing is playing at home, that way no matter the opponent. We have before us a good picture and we know we have a strong team to win. But we have to play on a slow surface. With Croatia, which is all good punches, you have to play on something more comfortable for us than for them.

-With the results that occurred, from here until the end of the year Argentina will be local in all series, and 2008. What things need to change so that the end is different?

-Must win. I do not know, everyone has to play their part and do things best. We have to try to win points us to play each. But missing, the year just started and anything can happen.

- What were the first impressions that let you work with Jaite as captain?

-We had a very good ten days, counting the time we were in Buenos Aires, my training very well. We prepared a very good series, there were good relations with the whole group. She ran a tough opponent, and now follow each with its calendar and its tournament to fight for the circuit, and back, to be in Argentina for the second series.

-The week before, the tension, the parties. Everything's going to be what you miss most when this is over?

Yes, it is one of the things you enjoy most.

-Despite the tensions?

-Yes, strange. If you do not like, do not extrañarías, and the truth is that this is something different and it's very nice to live it.

-In this series, only in the doubles was a little climate of Davis. Is that where you feel in your sauce?

-SEEE? Missed a bit out there. Fry the German people, maybe because of the weather, heh. For me it is good to be spicy.

-If it makes you realize the dream of winning the Davis, ¿you would hang the racquet at the time? Would you say: that's it, I got what you wanted?

-No, I do not know. I will be a goal, a dream, but it has nothing to do with the Cup, not that if I win I leave, and if I win, I follow. Retirement is not copadependiente, but spend more for a physical item and see how I'm feeling. At year's end will see how I am, if I have a good year and continuity, and I do things right, the idea is viable to continue.

With the series defined, disputed the latest singles. Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina won the fourth point to beat Florian Mayer 7-5, 7-5; Cedrik Tomaž Štebe, debuting in the Davis-entered-Kohlschreiber, discounted to beat Eduardo Schwank 7-6 (7-1) and 7-5.
