I just can't understand why it only be counted when you collect five more. If someone only dislikes one guy or two guys, why not just count as 10 points or 9 points? Why should voters hate five guys to qualify?!

It's simple, either name 5 or don't vote.

Nadal is the most disliked player? This forum voted him right up there? Out of literally 1000's of players, Nadal was picked? Unbelievable.

I think for most people voting its not so much disliking nadal but disliking some nadal fans on this forum. Picking at Nadal is the only way for these people to get to them.

No sane bunch of tennis fans would vote Nadal as # 1 disliked player.

There is a worst fanbase in Off Topic. Nadal isn't my number 1 disliked player or close to it, but there are more than enough reasons to dislike him and yes the fans help for sure.

You dislike the fans because you dislike the player

For every Rafatard there is an equal Fedtard, it all starts with liking or hating a player, and then you start to hate his nemisis and fans.

Not necessarily, it can also be the other way around as AJ said.
I have actually gained a little more respect for Rafa as a player since I registered here. His horrible fandom makes me wish he lost every single time he played though.

There are many reasons, some dislike his style of play, some dislike the timewasting, the fake humility, injury timeouts, sections of the fanbase definitely don't help things, but I wouldn't expect you to see that.

I can say my reason because I don't read that often : he's an image of violence in my eyes, to himself (and by his uncle) and to the others, including his game, his face when he plays, the nervous obsessive antics ...

I feel uneasy watching him on court (outside of court he looks to me like a handsome nice guy, only I don't like the strange thing he does with his eyebrows sometimes), one can even say it's like a physical allergy. Only Monica Seles ever gave me an impression similar to that ... but less, because she was much less powerful.

The style of play is secondary contrary to what some people think, who think that I should also dislike Ferrer if I dislike Nadal.

Ferrer looks like a "normal human who fights" in my eyes and I have huge respect for that, Nadal looks like a freak to me.

I know that when I say that Nadalfans get mad and get allergic to me (many of them are good persons, not esp. in this forum but on other forums even more) or think that I lie, it's not "the real reason", that's why I don't say it often, but that's just the truth of my feelings

I've also read people allergic to Federer even though they hide that behind supposed "objective" arguments.

Besides, I try my best to understand the human Nadal. Thinking of what his uncle did to him is a good way for me to think better of him personally.

And I have his tennis in very high consideration, I even think that Nadal is more talented than Federer, I don't think his success is that much a matter of working, as his myth says, I think he would have been nearly the same player working "normally".

I am quite sick of this attitude, it's nothing but denial. Horrible fandom? This is complete bullshit, purported by the neverending majority on this forum. There have been plenty of posters here who are comparable to the most over the top Rafa fans. The Magician didn't get nearly as much shit as he would have if he was posting his nonsense about Federer. GlennMirnyi is a legend around here, everyone was up in arms about his banning, yet he trolled every thread he entered, much more so than Start da game, for example. Even right now we have samanosuke. A vile and hateful poster, not just towards Nadal but other members of the forum, yet most people find him hilarious. Why? Because he directs his hate at Nadal and Nadal fans, who are the minority. It is nothing but double standards and you are one of the chief offenders.

This fake humility thing has always puzzled me. What is fake humility? Is being humble a conscious decision?

This is quite a strange post. I will say though, how can anyone take your opinions seriously with this sort of irrational thought and bias? I was just reading your posts in the Borg/Nadal thread, then I see this and now your opinion and discussion is completely worthless.

See ? The usual reaction I get ! No understanding whatsoever, I receive the same allergy I have for Nadal "now your opinion and discussion is completely worthless" : pure rejection !

... and even from people who have read my arguments and thoughts for long.

Is it impossible to admit that people can be able to have a rational argumentation AND in the meantime have feelings, which means emotions and irrational ?

My life is made of both of these as, I guess, the life of everyone here

One example of what emotions lead people to (in the thread about "who will win Monte-Carlo final ?") :

Speaking only for myself - I find Nadal very disingenuous. For example - against Djokovic in Monte Carlo, he was saying Djokovic is the favorite considering Djokovic has beat him 7x in a row even if Nadal is the greater player historically. But when playing against Federer, he would claim Federer is the favorite because he is the greater player bla blah despite the fact that he knows he owns Federer in their H2H.

Also, asking for a 2 year ranking system, quitting the council when he didn't get his way, continuous blatant disregard for the rules, arguing with umpires when they do implement the rules - these to me are all "non-humble" acts which is in stark contrast to how he presents himself in his interviews and other public relations. I like to think I can tell more about a player's attitude when he is on court, seeing how he treats his opponents (not making them wait, taking some inexplicable medical time outs when your opponent is ahead) than how he acts when he is in a more controlled situation, e.g. in an interview.

Excuses.

See what you want to see. Yes, I play Tursunov on clay and he is favourite, no. Classic example of fake humility, then the always injured when he loses. Just cause you can't see why there people that don't like Nadal or have their reasons for doing so. It's not different from Djokovic or Federer, except for the reasons.

Didn't know humble athletes take fake timeouts, stretch the gamesmanship big time, 2 year ranking. It's fine to do that, it's pro sport and within the rules but that's not humility.

Why can't you understand that there might be a REASON the majority holds that opinion? I was not lying in my previous post, it is exactly as I said: In my experience, Nadals MTF fans make people dislike Rafa more.

Indeed, but the annoying Rafa fans are so MANY, that is the difference. I can give you 15+ names if you want.

Many of the worst Fedtards like Glenn and Magician are permabanned, so I don't understand why you bring them up. Samanosuke is a rare case because he can actually burn someone using sometimes strange english and many appreciate that and do find him funny. He's currently banned as well though just so you know.

I myself am aware I'm not a model poster in any way but I am certainly not as conceited as many of the trolls on here.
