AO SF: Djokovic outmarathons Murray 6-3 3-6 6-7(4) 6-1 7-5
Was Nadull playing in the first 3 sets? More than 3 hours for these sets.
Djokovic nearly choked the match from 5-2 in the 5th. Murray didn't take the gift at 5-5 blowing mulple BPs.
Hopefully Djokovic is fine for Sunday.

Re: AO SF: Djokovic outmarathons Murray 6-3 3-6 6-7(4) 6-1 7-5
Great dogfight from Andy. A real improvement from recent slam performances against the Big Three. Still, at that level you can't afford the fourth set he had: so momentum-robbing. Worse, the shift between the end of the third set and the beginning of the fourth was a snapshot of the entire match, where Andy had difficulty capitalizing on Nole's subpar play...and more difficulty maintaining momentum once he did.
The reasons for this seem multiple. Sure, his mental strength is not equal to the Top Three's. But he'd be stronger mentally with a serve that gives him more free points, or at least consistently places him in control of the point. It'd be easier for him to build confidence if he simply stopped playing rope-a-dope (which always let Nole get back up) and stayed with the controlled and crafty aggression that was continually drawing errors. Lastly, he was notably worse at fighting through physical issues than Nole, who made the third set so tough that he was able to get a second-wind just from seeing Andy fatigued in the fourth. He did something similar to Rafa at the US Open, so the Scot and Spaniard should be aware of what awaits them at each contest from now on.

I'm shocked Murray took Nole to 5 Sets Nole may indeed win the Tournament, but I think it is safe to say the Nole of 2012 is not the same Nole as the one in 2011!

Interesting stat: Novak was pushed to 5 sets every time he met up again with his Australian Open final opponent:
Lost to Tsonga in 5 back in 2010 (2008 finalist), and beat Murray in 5 today (2011 finalist)

Too bad for Murray. I think he deserved to win the match.
But I'm ok, I want Djokovic to beat Nadal sunday. And Murray would be on mug mode against Nadal.

Murray I was almost rooting for him to pull through in the end.

Re: AO SF: Djokovic outmarathons Murray 6-3 3-6 6-7(4) 6-1 7-5
see ya Murray. No slam. Murray did give Djokovic a tough time and he should be credited for that, but he's just not slam material. Too mentally weak at crunch time.
Djokovic was 10/25 on bp while Murray was 7/24 I wonder if Djokovic will recover in time for the final? Nadal had an extra day off.
