2004-05 was certainly not homogenized. Grass was slower than 01, but much faster than today. The effects started to show from about 2008 onwards increasing year on year (the 2011 US Open was slowed down for example)

Yes there is less variety - and i think that's bad - but for Federer to make it sound like the "players of today" have it easy and are cruising along whilst he toiled in an era of variety is just plain wrong. Most of his success has come on surfaces similar to the ones today.
Sorry dude, I made bullcrap too, so don't feel you're the only one who shit all over the forum.
And be happy, you're gonna made Topspindoctor's day and get soooo many GoodReps and Vcash.

So? Why bother in understand my opinion, for ME this thread is bullcrap.

Ahoy!

Federer certainly has been playing tennis at the big events a lot longer then Nadal or Djokovic and it`s normal that their point of view is a bit different. It`s clear that the surface is slippery and not everything is ideal but the way u handle the current situation is important not only on court but also in the media

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned...

What a surprise - 2008 onwards eh? Just when Fed started declining.

2011 US Open was slow definitely but that's not to say EVERY tournament is slower now than in 2004/2005 etc. And as I've said again find me ONE quote where the players complain about the speed? No one has. The court isn't even that much faster - the problem is it's so badly laid that you have to just grip and rip and can't construct a claycourt point on it. Not being able to move and slide means you have to play quick points.

If people want bad courts and strange conditions for variety than so be it. But the issue here is simply safety and poor quality - watching the top players in the world struggling to move is not my idea of an interesting match. What a waste of a tournament.

nole and rafa need to get real. they play tennis and they have to adaft to all surfaces. Roger played in an era where he had to adjust to slow, fast and all kinds of surfaces...It's part of the job. They sound like whiney first graders. That's why they will never be the ambassador for the game like Roger is.

What roger said is fact. Man up, fella's or get the hell out of the ATP since it's doing you guys so wrong. Im sure lesser rank players would love to have your rankings and money.

Sorry Ash, but you're revealing yourself as more of a genuine tard - or should I rather say 'non-objective poster' - by the minute.
If you quote a player, how about quoting the entire interview, so people may be allowed to read the quote in its entire context?

For your information, Federer has never denied that he himself benefitted from the surface homogenization. And yes he did.

There are enough claycourt points constructed on hard and grass these days. At least one tournament is free of this.
