heay i dont know...i got reaaally dissapointed with the last match against...against...well against the rumanian :S...he waisted too many advantages....he had the match almost won...he had to do nothing but to concentrate....but as always...he couldn't....and the same thing against chucho (with the difference that chucho / lucho match was much more hard for both of them...i honnestly don't know if he is going to pass 1st round this year.....i hope so..but the odds are against him

Lucho won the Motorola Cup exhibition against Calleri, and in the Copa Argentina de tenis he played well against Berlocq and Guga winning easily and lost to Calleri in the semis.

Here are some photos.

Great photos - thanks. Here are some articles:-

http://www.peru.com/deportes/notici...oticia26309.asp

Horna destroys favourite Kuerten in the quarterfinals of the Copa Argentina in Buenos Aires.

The Peruvian Luis Horna surprised everyone at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club and won easily over one of the main candidates for the title in the third Copa Argentina competition, - the Brazilian Gustavo "Guga" Kuerten.

Already well after midnight, and with Diego Maradona in the stands supporting the man from Rio de Janeiro, Horna surprised everyone by playing tennis at a very high level. He beat the ex-World Number 1 by an emphatic 6-2, 6-0. While many dreamed of a final showdown between David Nalbandian and Gustavo Kuerten, Horna destroyed the illusion of the majority, and in the semifinals he will face Argentine Agustín Calleri, who he has already beaten in the 2005 Motorola Cup exhibtion match in Lima a few weeks back.

Horna, the World Number 84, broke Kuertens’s serve in first game and took a fast advantage. It was noticeable that "Guga" was not up to his usual standard and made many errors, while Horna made precise shots right on the lines, and played with good changes of pace. Therefore, the Peruvian broke serve again in the seventh game and took the first set comfortably. The public cheered constantly for the Brazilian - something strange considering his nationality! Nevertheless, there was no reaction from him and the second Set was so one-sided it appeared like a rout. "Guga" was very poor in his execution of his shots, and very far from the level that made him a triple champion at Roland Garros and a former World Number 1. He did not show great fighting spirit in the second set, while Horna did not relax for one moment – in fact he raised his level and his superiority was every greater. He closed out the set 6-0 and took his victory deservedly. Luis Horna is now living through a good moment and it seems that he is taking these friendly matches very seriously, and if he can take that commitment and desire further, he has serious chances of being the foreigner who breaks the tradition and wins the latest Copa Argentina.

Tennis - 05/12/2005

Luis Horna – the Motorola Open Champion.

The Peruvian tennis player, Luis Horna beat the Argentine Agustin Calleri 7-5, 6-3 and became the Motorola Open 2005 champion, in a charity match which collected money for the Association for Childhood (ANIA) and the Puericultorio Perez Aranibar.

Horna (Number 86 in the ATP race), had previously overcome another Argentine, Jose Acasuso (Number 41) 7-6( 5), 6-3, and then faced Agustín Calleri (Number 52) who had previously beaten the Peruvian Miguel Miranda (Number 370) 6-1 and 6-3. The great winners in this competition were not just the children who benefitted through the charity, but also the public who enjoyed the facilities of the Jockey Club in Peru, and watched good tennis. Luis Horna became the winner or the purse silver Camusso trophy,Agustín Calleri also received a Camusso trophy as the runner-up. Jose Acasuso lost to Horna in the semifinal and finished in 3rd place after beating “El Chino” Iván Miranda 7-6 and 6-3, and both were also awarded prizes.

Winning the 2005 Motorola Open allows Luis Horna to finish the year in good form, after injuries stopped him playing better or rising higher in the ATP rankings in the previous year. Horna will continue with his pre-season prepartion in the run-up to the Australian Open, in the first days of January next year.

You're welcome As I said earlier - the 3rd link you gave me was pretty much identical to the first so I didn't bother posting it here! Hope that's OK.

Lucho will be starting the 2006 season in either the Sao Paulo challenger or in Adelaide where he is the first alternate, though I think he'd better off playing in Brazil and then going to Auckland.

After this he is playing in Viña del Mar, Buenos Aires, Costa do Sauipe and Acapulco, then if his ranking is good enough the hardcourt TMS events.

Good luck for 2006 and Lucho try and find your tennis brain this year.
