And Judy has gone Twitter mad. I don't think there'll be any chocolate left in New York by the end of today!

Bless her, she should put on 15 lbs now - she deserves it. The stress she goes through.

People definitely love Andy in the U.S. I really think he is appreciated more in the U.S. as a player. And I do find it funny when other posters know you like a player and he wins they sent you Congrats like you had somehow been in the Match!

I want two more things this season.

1) Stay fit.
2) Do himself justice in London for the YEC.

Everything else is not so important for me. Going for number one would be silly.

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned...

Thanks, Andi-M. Unfortunately, I didn't see it in time, so I just had to listen to it on Radio 5 instead. Probably less harrowing. And kudos to the two ball-by-ball commentators - they did a great job just keeping up with the play.

Beats me, too - and it's the thing I find most off-putting about these boards. I mean, in my life there's only been one person I could ever claim to have hated, and he was a dictator and had a family friend assassinated. Compared with that, I'm afraid tennis players just don't cut it: I have a list of ones who I don't respect because I find them unsporting, and others whose style of play I don't particularly like, but that's about it.

I watched the BBC News Channel this evening in an attempt to catch up with the story, and was very disappointed by the level of reporting (perhaps it's usually like this - I don't usually watch it). Maybe they were trying to flog a rather worn-out horse by this time, but the implication that pretty much the whole of Scotland (and apparently nobody in England, Northern Ireland or Wales) stayed up to watch the match was pretty hard to take (and no thanks to BBC TV there, of course - I'm assuming they didn't buy the rights to broadcast it specifically to Scotland and leave the rest of us out, although I noticed that they duplicated the coverage on BBC Radio Scotland - don't they get Radio 5 Live up there?). Really a missed opportunity, I thought.

Radio Scotland had it's own show based on the 5 live commentary but with our usual sports presenters - and quite right too - no need to send 2 radio commentary teams. Reporting Scotland on TV dedicated 9 mins out of a 30 min programme to Andy and the celebrations in Dunblane plus he got another couple of mentions later on and the Scotland footie fans sang "One Andy Murray - there's only one Andy Murray" drowning out the football piece
"Breakfast" on national tv in the morning ran with Andy as the main story - don't think there was any lack of coverage there (in the morning anyway)
Not sure the beeb have ever had the rights to air the USO?

BBC has no rights whatsoever on the US Open beyong Radio 5 live I think - so they relied on limited footage available that Sky let them use. They were spending quite a lot of time on it on BBC News 24 and the main bulletins - it was leading the headlines in the morning and early afternoon before being moved down to second behind the school testing story. They interviewed Miles McClagan, Andrew Castle and Tim Henman at various points, showed a statement from the PM about it and had a piece from Dunblane too. I think their coverage was okay but fairly superficial - but I find that true of BBC News in general.

Thanks.

I see the Daily Telegraph has done a 12-page (I kid you not) supplement on Andy's win. I know it was historic, but even so ... Would they'd spend as much effort on their usual tennis coverage.

Probably not but the broadsheets usually do cover tennis pretty well - The Times, The Telegraph and The Guardian all have tennis correspondents who know their stuff.
