Default Why do you bounce the ball before serving?

When I was young I used to bounce the ball before serving only because the pros did it. Now, I use it to calm myself and get into the zone for the next serve. Also bouncing the ball with my racquet gives me some idea of how lively the ball is and how hard I need to hit it. But the only reason I bounce the ball with my left hand is psychological.

It's part of a ritual so that you can forget about other thoughts. I am a one bounce guy. Others may have a different number of bounces. But the important thing is to be consistent.

I bounce 4 or 5 sometimes up to 10. Depends how much my opponent is messing round before I serve. I think nerves make me bounce more as well. I always check the balls before I serve. I hate anything even the slightest bit dead.
