wtf kind of moronic troll are you? First off who are you to tell anyone who they are a fan of. 2nd I'm a hockey fan, I do get the occasional game that isn't the Leafs but I do watch every single Leafs game, gtfo

If you don't get what I'm talking about then you don't know, it's a well known fact that Leafs fans only watch and follow the Leafs, and nothing else, of course they see the other teams that play them, but that's the only time they will watch them, they aren't true hockey fans, just Leafs fans.

That is not a well known fact at all, never heard it before. Maybe it's just a well known fact in BC
Also it makes no sense whatsoever, that defination sounds like the defination of a gloryhunter, fan of a someone who's winning and not really the sport which is the opposite of a Leafs fan, leafs haven't made the playoffs in 8 years.

Well you aren't from Toronto so of course it's different for you, you are probably a true hockey fan.
It's been pretty well documented in books.

Also I've interacted with Leafs fans and most are some of the least knowledgable around.

Re: Off Topic Chat Thread
lets not have stereotypes, there are fans of all the teams or aren't knowledgeable. There are fans from all teams who don't watch other teams games. A lot of games aren't on TV, people have other things to do, I know my father is a huge Leafs/hockey fan but he rarely watches other games, doesn't even watch all Leafs games, doesn't have the time, and often it's not on TV. It just so happens that the Leafs have a huge fanbase(maybe only Montreal compares) so obviously they have more oif these types of fans

I'm a Leafs fan who pretty much only watches other teams (it's better hockey), so there goes that hypothesis.

Re: Off Topic Chat Thread
Well, as a long-suffering Torontonian, I can't say I'm familiar with this "only watch the Leafs" culture.
So I probably don't qualify as a Leafs fan. I do cheer for the Leafs (hopeless as it has been the last 30+ years of my life ). But I watch other teams, and I cheer for them in the 'Leafless' playoffs. Only time I've cheered against the Leafs is if they are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention and their opponent is a team I like and they need the points.

I'm glad the Flames are playing with much higher energy with Hartley as coach.
It was so dull for 3 years with Brent Sutter.

I watch the Raptors when there's nothing else on. I used to support them a lot but the parity in the NBA sucks, it just gets annoying to see the same exact teams in the playoff/finals every year. They've had like 8 different teams win in the last 33 years? The records are crazy, teams go 65-17, while others go 17-65 or worse.
I watch them and cheer for them to win but I'm not really a supporter at all. If the Leafs lose I'm pissed, if Milos loses I'm pissed, if the Raptors lose I decide what I'm going to eat because I could careless about being pissed.

Re: Off Topic Chat Thread
Can't say I care much when either the Leafs or Raptors lose. It's not like they're any good, so it really doesn't matter. It does piss me off, though, when Milos loses to players he should beat at this stage.

Well,I figured that basketball contingent in Canada isn't that wide, but I understand the annoyance of having several franchises dominating year after year. Big markets attract big names, that's how the circle works in the NBA.
By the way, Raps traded for Rudy Gay, All - Star caliber SF, maybe he'll be enough to push them for the playoffs?

I do watch basketball sometimes (less often than hockey -- except of course during the lockout!).
I really like Jose Calderon, though
Don't really know enough about Rudy Gay, and do we even know if he wants to be here? Even that Turkoglu guy was all positive about being in Toronto and the multicultural atmosphere. Then when he got here... he couldn't get out fast enough. So sick of hearing about how pro athletes don't want to come here. Even if I had their salaries, I wouldn't want to live in the trashy, crime-filled American cities they like to live in.
