Here you go, but keep your expectations low:

First he talks about his match, he had the impression Baggy was starting to struggle a little bit physically in the 3rd set, but his serve saved him and he was not unlucky to take that set. But Julien also had some muscular problems in the 3rd set anyway.
His Australian season has been average since he had only one win against Ginepri. But he lost to Hewitt, Söderling, Baggy, they're no mugs either, he's not playing poorly.
He'll badly need to start picking up points during the indoor events, though, because with the new ranking system it might become very tough in the future. So the journalist asks him to elaborate and Julien calls the new system "dramatique" (terrible, tragic).
They had a long meeting with all the players yesterday and he was very impressed by what the coach of Youzhny said during the meeting.
The players feel like they're presented with a fait accompli. It will be very, very tough to enter the top 30 now, there are so many points to gain in the 500 events, the Masters 1000 and the Slams.
Only 2 events of the lower category are taken in account for the top 30 players. Nalby already won Sydney, imagine he also wins Buenos Aires and the season is over for him in that category, he can't win any more points. People are complaining about fixed matches, tanks, but the new system will encourage that a lot. And it's "awful" for the directors of tournaments like Metz or Lyon, they will have so much trouble getting top players now, most guys will already have the maximum of points in that category. There's a real danger to have "strange matches and strange tournaments".
There should be another category of tournaments. It's not normal to have Doha and its huge prize money over 1.000.000 $ in the same category as Brisbane and its 450.000 $. St-Petersburg had a prize money of 1.000.000 $, but will pay less this year because it's no use paying more, they're in the 250 category anyway. Lyon will keep a high prize money (over 700.000 $), but it won't give more points than Casablanca. It's simply not normal. He's wondering how all this will end.
That's what the coach of Youzhny explained during the meeting the other day and 90% of the players agreed with him.

Default Re: Julien Benneteau

In L'Equipe about his win over Serra 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the 1st round:
It was horribly windy and the match only was memorable for two reasons: the amount of BP (25) and a huge mistake of the umpire on the SP in the 2nd set. Julien admits contritely he touched indeed the ball and the umpire didn’t notice it. He was in a moral dilemma, he was feeling guilty, but decided to go with the umpire. As for the rest, he wasn’t playing his best tennis and got by as best as he could. Not sure it will be enough against Blake, though.

Good for him to admit he knew Flo had been cheated on SP and he was feeling guilty about it, but it must be embarrassing, especially against another French player.

He plays in doubles with Jo, Mika was supposed to team up with Jo, but is injured.

He's punished enough now with L'Equipe reporting it.
Although they didn't pick a very catchy title ("Benneteau minimum syndical") if they really wanted to expose his dubious move.

An interview of Bennet. He's quite happy of his game atm after a deceptive down under season. His goal is to win a tournament and enter the top 20. He plans to play on clay MC, Rome, Munich, Madrid. With Jo they would like to play Rome together after the good run in Miami. Everything is OK with Champion, no problems.

Quote:
Benneteau: "Une surface exigeante"

Thanks soulage, nobody answered last time when I asked in the tournament thread why he had pulled out, but it doesn't sound like he's injured.

(Is the journalist confusing South Africa with New Zealand when he talks about Mahut? )
