I eat my left ball with some ketchup and chili if Fed gets that number 1 spot... oh and with glass of milk. If he gets slam and number one i eat them both.

Must be veery careful not to say anything bad about holy trinity that is Fed+Nadal+Nole. For some people they are closer than their own mother.

Who's talking about not being allowed to be happy for your player's achievements? or those being meaningless? Federer has done very well these past months, that's a fact, good for him. But it's the sudden talk of him being the next number 1 that makes me wonder if you people are right on your head. By the way, weren't fedtards who always said Federer only cared about the slams?

Well, you said that Federer fans only have the past to live for. But if winning tournaments other than slams counts, then there is plenty in the present to live for.

The talk isn't sudden. This thread was created all the way back in 2010, shortly after Federer lost his no.1 ranking. When Federer won the WTF in 2010, there was hope he could reclaim the ranking if he defended his AO title.
The difference this time is that he's managed to amass a 2000 points lead over the last 7 months. Therefore if he wins a slam, it's possible he could get back to number 1.
As far as slams go, however, Federer has already proved himself. At this late stage in his career, it's reasonable that he would try to win as much as he can - even in the smaller events, and get the most out of his remaining time on the tour.

I don't know if you've noticed but Fed is only 1770 Ranking points behind Djokovic for the #1 Rankings .
Novak has barely nothing to gain all summer on top of that too.
So yeah, its quite possible Fed gets to number 1 . If you don't think he has a chance then you're the one who's not right in the head

"It's no secret for any player out there that you'd rather be No. 1 than No. 2," said Federer after his three-set win over Tomas Berdych in the Madrid final. When the Basel native was usurped by Nadal in June 2010, he was just one week shy of equalling Pete Sampras’ all-time record of 286 weeks at No. 1.
"It would be absolutely amazing," said Federer, on the prospect of tying Sampras.
