One more straight set beat down by Nole in Australia will bring Fed down to earth and will
show everyone who it the top dog
|
I agree a matchup with a healthy Nole on a hardcourt would do alot to bring down Roger. All will take is one good beating, like this year in Australia. Novak has to be fully fit though, and ready to go.
Novak is the top dog though, you know this. Its not really even close who the best player in the world is. I assume his shoulder is not some career threating injury.

A month ago fedtards were proclaiming Federer dead an after just one tournament he's the next number 1?

Realistically, what he needs is for no other single player to accumulate "all" the points. This year is was Nole winning everything. The year before it was Rafa.
If the points get spread around a bit more and he is consistent, he could get back there. But I don't look for him to get back to the top by dominating everything like he did in the past. Those days are over.
If Murray, Tsonga, Berdych, Soderling can step up and take a slam and a few Masters titles (and then be inconsistent outside of a few fairytale performances), that will help. And it could happen.
|
Yeah, this. It could happen if neither Djoker nor Nadal dominates the first few months.

Well yes of course. In fact I'd be surprised if anyone makes it to a slam final this year
In all honesty I cannot see Roger regaining the no.1 spot again, sadly. It's gonna be very tough, and he needs to win a minimum of 2 GS and needs Novak to drop nearly all his points; it's not going to happen.
Obviously, I'd love to see it though

But Federer doesn't have the same style of play as them and hence on average will spend less time on court playing.

He has a chance, if he in his usual style, waits until every good player is injured so he can swoop in and grab #1 spot.

I don't really think so, but TBH it doesn't matter at this point, all I ask is for him to do well in tournaments

Anything is possible (including Nadal winning WTF) but probably not. I hope so. But probably not.

Re: Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the
dont think so, seen from last few years that after AO up to US Open he never gives his best for the 1000's and smaller events anymore
he'd need to win 3 GS, maybe 2 would give a chance
