Re: GENIUS1787 CUP - ' Europe vs Rest of world' - Friday deadline will be 8 pm CET
I'm so sad about this tournament.
Not your fault, Martin, good managing for you, but is sad see a lot of missing picks in a remembrance tournament.

I suggest to make this tournament in January, what do you think, for example with. QF in Australian Open will play 1 single match and SF and F will count for 2nd match and all 7 will decide double rubbers

I share with you that is trying to the development of this tournament.
Martin, thanks for your time and job.
In continuing this tournament for ex: the Australia Open. The players who do not play or are eliminated and are never QF most will not send picks.
My opinion is that we finish the tournament with two games tomorrow as the last round

Re: GENIUS1787 CUP - ' Europe vs Rest of world' - Friday deadline will be 8 pm CET
In my opinion, the timing of the tournament is just not good. It's the offseason, it's an exhibition, many people forget. I think most people signed up as the season was ending, and had the intentions of playing but now tennis may be the farthest thing from their minds because it's the offseason, and even if it is on their mind, it's thinking about the start of next year, and not some exhibition that with all due respect most don't care about. (the tennis not the TT exhibition). If the tournament was during say Buenos Aries then i think it would get more support
Thanks Marto for trying, just bad timing I think

Re: GENIUS1787 CUP - ' Europe vs Rest of world' - Friday deadline will be 8 pm CET
this is so wrong... this started as an argentinian masters cup and ended up being europe vs rest of the world somehow.
maybe this cup should be only for argentinians to honour genius' memory and if the rest of the players want to do a europe vs rest of the world thing should be done somewhere else. not trying to be rude but this lacks of respect for what is meant to be the reason of the cup.
rescheduling for second week of the AO and what has gone on this year is kind of a joke to the memory of Andy and probably means nothing to most of the signed up players

This is a little bit harsh, but I agree with you to a large extent. I knew Andy a little as a player and manager, and felt privileged to enter this tournament in his memory. I am sure that many non-Argentinians felt the same, but perhaps some, for whatever reason, did not give it the necessary attention.
If you, or anybody, wish to organize a closed tournament for Nationals only, I am sure you would receive support. Perhaps it could be run alongside a South American challenger, or even a futures if the entry list was good enough. I certainly agree that the AO is not the best time and place.
What would be your thoughts on the longer established Yemok/Biliana cup? Would you also advocate this being a closed tournament? I must admit I have played twice in this without knowing the persons concerned, but I did take the trouble to research their history, and tried to avoid treating it as "just another exho".
